I've seen one they made for the GS (much like this one) - looked good, looked factory actually. Price is better then most huggers..

Thanks for the post Don. Good info. I want a hugger for someday but the cost is prohibitive. Any idea who the makes the mud guard?

I could have used that last weekend.

Some of the back roads up in the Santa Cruz mountains ... it hadn't rained in a little while, but it's so humid and shadowy, the roads were still wet and muddy. There were times when I was going around 15 mph (and passed a guy on an 800 GS).

I had mud flecks on the *top* of my helmet...

My dealer sent me an e-mail this week he got from the manufacturer. I don't want to post it since it has dealer costs in it. Attaches with 2 screws and 2 zip ties. Suggested retail is $ 139.00

Below is a listing to the company's web page. Looks to be made very nice and easy to install. I wish the price was a little lower.

Having been an early requester of the Mudsling for our R's, they notifiied me by e-mail. I was down in NJ mid-week, but on Thurs when I called to see if I could drop by to pick one up, the guy who answered the phone was the only one in due to the 18" of snow. So, guess I will order one the usual way. Living on a dirt road, I have been waiting eagerly for it. (Of course right now, I live on a steep and snow/ice covered road which probably won't be passable by bike until late March

This winter we'll be lucky if we can dig out by May! But this hugger will come in handy for mud season in June.

Machineart Moto has sent out a press release to dealers in the last week or so , it is available now. My bike was used for the development model and is the Biarritz Blue R12R in the close up of the Mudsling on the press release. I rode New Years Day around 60 miles in the wet muck (cinders and salt). The Mudsling did an excellent job of keeping the rear shock clean and also sealing of the underseat area which gives me some peace of mind with the having the Centec fuse panel better protected from the weather.

I ordered one of these yesterday. I should have it next week and will report back after I install it. I wasn't really interested in this farkle until a couple of weeks ago when I rode in the light rain. Wow. What a mess on the rear shock and underneath parts. Hopefully this will help.

Any idea when they will have one out for the ESA bikes? Any thoughts on why the current one won't fit the ESA bike?

Mr. Breeze: The Nippy Norman hugger is about $175 all told, looks good, and works well for rain. The Mud Sling is for chunky mud that would totally clog a hugger, with its limited clearance.

Nippy Norman takes US credit cards, and he ships fast. I had no problem at all ordering and paying for his hugger over the internet, and it installed easily. But be sure to use LocTite on the nuts, or you will find it riding ON, instead of above, the tire...

So Mike, it sounds like you have no regrets in your purchase of the Nippy Norman's hugger over the carbon fiber ones like from Wunderlich?

No, no regrets. I rather like the damn thing! But I've got no photos of it at this time. First I've gotta clean the bike, then take the photos, then download 'em to the computer, then post 'em on photobucket. We'll see how I feel tomorrow after the ride...
