Oh The Pain!

Everytime I come to the forum now, it has lost my log-in. I have logged in about two dozen times the last month or so and each time I check the box to remember me. But NOOOO! It never remembers me. Now it has started asking me to fill in the "CAPTCHA" letters. What's up with that?
I use 2 different computers to log in. This laptop and my laptop at work. It doesn't matter. I get the same routine at either computer.

Wash your hands!!
Seriously, with both computers doing it, it has to be you . . . . or your "User Control Panel Settings" got changed, prolly unintentionally during a site upgrade. My log-ons have not changed.
Another thing to try is delete all the cookies for this website, restart the browser and that may do it. In FireFox 3.6.3 it's "Tools-> Options-> Privacy" to get to the cookies menu for selection/configuration/deletion.

Also check your Security setting - Accept Cookies.
Good luck!

I had this issue for years. I never got it working again. Until I had a unrestorable, unrecoverable, and unrepairable Windows crash.
For about 6 months, with a Linux installation (Firefox browser), it worked fine.
Since I've been back from vacation (few days ago), I need to manually log on again.
If you wanted to know real pain, you should have come to my one man repartitioning party that I had tonight. Count your blessings if logging on at r1150r.net is the worst of your computer woes.
But, I'm a happy camper now! I threw out several operating systems, hundreds of programs, and so many gigs of files and accumulated garbage... I feel like a brand new nerd.

AMEN! Been there, done that, got a few Linux teeshirts along the way! I teach Linux Desktops at the local Community College along with some other CS classes. Go penguins!
As an aside, was on the NYC subway awhile back coming back from a Yankees game with my son. Was wearing a Linux ballcap (couldn't find my yankees cap to save my life that day) and some guys were asking me how I liked the hockey and "the penguins". Son just rolled his eyes at me and I just smiled.

Knew a geek discussion would not go very far.

Don't want to stray the topic away from the initial log in persistence problem, so I started
another Linux post.

Every so often I've had to log in again, but not like what you're describing. That leads me to believe you're running some kind of cookie blocker or other security plug-in. Perhaps... perhaps not.
So maybe try using this as your entry point to the board:
Maybe the header stuff in the regular
http://www.r1150r.org entry point is making a mess of things.

Good luck!
Edit: sorry for the weird "code" tag. The board was digesting the link and just showing "index.php" in the post.

My login situation is now... I only need to log on again if I haven't made a post in a few days.
And THANKS to jfslater, I just manually changed the bookmark on my phone. It is now:
index.php. That is what it has always been on my PC.
The bookmark on my phone was taking me to the main page instead of discussion board index, even though I was hitting "bookmark" on the board index.
He also gave me some good suggestions/edits for the ABS service... gotta get to that soon... laziness is my only excuse now...
