I must apologize for being so late in reminding you all of this important service reminder. I have been in the hospital since May 17th and the constant pain meds have taken their toll on my memory.

Alas, winter is upon us. Time to verify the quality of the antifreeze in the radiators on our R's. The machines of 2004 and prior can be checked using the standard method. 2005 and new will require reading the instructions printed on the seat. Ok, you're all set.

Luckily, those of us in coastal California don't need the protection that antifreeze provides. However, thanks for the reminder on behalf of the rest of the country. And a very Merry Christmas to you.

Hey Wayne!!! I hope you're well enough to totally lighten the load on the staff.

This reminder actually does apply to me. My F800ST has a blue colored antifreeze in it that will be flushed and replaced on/about June 9, 2011, the 2 year anniversary. Not worried about how low the freeze protection is on it because even if it does get down into the teens, retirement means I don't have to go anywhere!

Wayne, as usual, thank you for your most timely reminder as some of the old folk, like me, tend to forget the little details....next, you need to get well soon and back on the saddle, last but not least..... MERRY X-MAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR, BRO.

This is a good reminder for those still riding the Roadster. It is imperative that this stuff be changed out else the old antifreeze will damage the fragile BMW de-stagnabilizers. Like Cyclerob, I now have a bike with one single radiator. It will also be changed as required at the proper time interval.

Thanks for all the get well wishes guys. It will soon be 7 months hospitalized but still making pregress. Guillain Barre Syndrome has it's own timetable and it's slow! But it's all good. Ihope the season is good to all.

Thanks for the timely reminder, Wayne, and I find it jogs my memory to change the battery in the smoke detector just behind the canister. Hope you sporty types didn't remove it with the canisterectomy. Just sayin'

Freezing is not much of a problem in Florida, but boil-overs are, so I changed my antifreeze this summer and greased the muffler bearings too

I could use some prop wash if anyone has some. Can't seem to find any shaft seal either. Does anyone know where I could get either of these?

Had a friend who suffered from this. He made a full recovery but it took a while. Keep up the good spirits. That's 90% of getting well.

Best wishes for you too, Wayne. Take good care of yourself.

Oh and remember to replace the windshield washer fluid with winterized fluid, do not want that freezing up!

Which kind of Can-Bus fluid is recommended by BMW? I've been using Aimsoiled Dino.

Which kind of Can-Bus fluid is recommended by BMW? I've been using Aimsoiled Dino.

BMW specify their own overpriced can-bus fluid, which is just re-packaged Aimsoiled Dino. You can use any brand of 12-volt negative earth can-bus fluid. I use Toro Mierda can-bus fluid, its cheaper and is the same spec as Aimsoiled Dino.
