Surfing the web to investigate clutch problem on 2004 1150 RS and stumbled on this forum. Found a post about clutches, seemed to be my situation and now I am somewhat informed to ask the right questions when the dealer calls back. Thanks for providing a great resource, look forward to many hours perusing the site. Kudo's to all.

So rude of me of me Oliver, Hi I'm John and just received word that it is not the clutch, only slave cylinder and for some reason clutch handle assembly. Unfortunately, not very knowledgeable about the mechanics of the bike and rely on the dealer (BMW San Francisco) and boards like this. Bike has only 8500 miles and is just 6 yrs. old, but if it makes a difference these are are all city miles commuting to work. Asked why this was not observed or discovered in the last maintenance, he said there was no test of the system only a visual to inspect the seals. So now I am in a holding pattern waiting for parts. Your comments would be welcomed.

Hi John and welcome!
Suggest you let your dealer work on this as it is a bit complicated if you are not an experienced "oilhead-wrencher". Such things can happen when the bike has been parked for a longer period of time and when the hydraulic fluid has not been changed.
