New Parabellum Windscreen Ordered

So my tank wings experiment failed. I had hoped that with tank wings (Aeroflow) and the 19.5" Eurocut Cee Bailey's windscreen I'd get some of the buffetting out of my ears. But alas. No. So I've ordered myself a 21" Parabellum Super Tour and the Cee Bailey's and the BMW Sport windscreen's are both up on eBay along with the mounting hardware.

I do like the tank wings, though. Even without a windscreen they seem to divert a good amount of air out of my chest area. When the Super Tour gets here I'll try it with and without the tank wings and report the results.

I have that combination with my recent addition of tank wings from chitownrbike. The tall parabellum was still shorter than I wanted, so I also have a laminar lip on it. With those items, I have finally achieved a quiet air pocket to ride and listen to music in while preserving the bare bike feel of the R.

How tall are you?

I'm about 6' tall and have a Rick Mayer seat that's higher than stock to relieve my knee joints. I also have a Wunderlich touring bar that places me a little higher and further to the rear than the stock setup. I look over the top of the laminar lip to the road surface about 40' ahead of the bike.

If you mount the Parabellum and find that you still have unacceptable wind blast on your head, a laminar lip will raise the flow about 4" to 6".

To reiterate what has been stated above, you will need the Laminar Lip to complete the ugliness trilogy. Only after this final addition, will your investment towards creating a wannabe R1150RT (which we probably should have bought in the first place) be complete.

FYI. Make sure you try different heights when you install the lip. The pic below shows the lip on my R slightly higher than the shield. After trying several heights, I settled on the lip being 1/4" above the top of the shield. I'm 5'10", have the Sargent seat with Alaskan Sheep Skin Buttpad, and have no problem seeing over the lip and shield.

Got home from vacation today to find the Parabellum safely on the porch. Didn't get to install it yet - busy finishing up some cabinet painting - oh joy - but noticed that the headlight shrouds have to come off to use the Parabellum Super Tour. Are they all that way? I took a peak under the shroud and it looked pretty unfinished.

I have the S.T. and my shrouds are still on. Maybe they changed up the style.

The windshield brackets (I bought my screen in 2004) mount to the headlight braces. Without severe modification, the plastic side covers will not go back on.

I got over it quickly when I experienced the reduction in buffeting, which made me decide to keep the bike.
