Has anyone swapped the hand levers?

Remove the M5x30 head screw, the sleeve and the stop nut, take out the old lever, put in the new lever and reassemble to torque spec. Is the job that simple?

I found a few issues when I was thinking of changing out my levers

1/ The nylon nut is not sold by BMW (I always replace them), the fiche p/n is for a plain nut and these special nylon nuts have extra deep threads. Since its a critical application, I always like to replace these prevailing torque nuts with the exact part.

2/ The BMW manual calls for 6 ft-lb torque, which seems excessive for a tiny fastener (need to investigate before breaking something).

3/ The BMW manual is calling for some sort of thread-lock, which is usually never used on nylon fasteners.

I wouldn't worry so much ordinarily, but that area is pretty critical.....

Yep, that simple. While I appreciate Blues viewpoint, I think he is obsessing a little. I put Pazzo levers on mine in the spring and reused the nuts with no problem. Blue is correct they "should" be replaced, but I have reused the same type of fasteners many times with no ill result. Having said that, I'll only reuse them a couple of times because you can actually feel them loosen upon tightening after a couple of retorques. Keith

What harm, if any, is there to applying Loctite to the screw threads before reusing the nylon nuts? Is Loctite corrosive?

None. It's what I'd do. The blue medium strength should work just fine.
