I got back fairly early due and quickly unpacked the wet stuff, (yes, Hungry Mother once again lived up to the unofficial title Hungry Mother Annual Rain Ride!) and went off on a mission with the wife. Pictures downloading now and will be posted up soon.

Great weekend, as always. The rain did not dampen the riding or the fun. Good to see everyone and sorry for the ones who had to back out. See you next time!

The Hungry Mother Rain Ride LIVES ON!

Actually, I think the rain started around 3:30am Sunday morning. I think it stopped around 8-ish.

I waved off Marvin and C.A. as I exited for home off I-575 about an hour ago. We took a beautiful ride home down through some of Vann's stomping grounds: VA 58 to Damascus then TN 91 and something else I don't remember, crossing I-26 near Johnson City, then worked our way over to 212 then down 209 to Lake Junaluska where we hooked back up with 23/74 down to Dillsboro then Franklin and on home to Georgia. No rain at all. Gorgeous day and we all three were pretty tired by the time we made it to Hiawassee.

Great weekend!...and pictures, videos, slideshows will appear eventually.

Got home around 7PM. Bone dry ride home, except for highway mist from a previous storm 2 miles from my house.
It took longer to get home than to get there, as it's never easy getting across the NE corridor on a Sunday.

and no, challey and I rode in no rain all weekend, and the Kelty performed flawlessly when it did..
We slept (and relaxed) through the a sat afternoon shower, and a overnight one.
That is without a doubt the most beautiful campground I have ever been to...VIP accommodations.

Up the mountain, down the mountain, hairpin left, hairpin right, it was like an amusement park ride on a bike complete with cliff hangers.

Brian, I have not forgotten the gravel or that sh*t eatin' grin you got.

Thanks to everyone, it was one hungry mother of a weekend!
Those of you who are on the fence each year, do yourself a favor, and jump, you will NOT regret it.

I think I got home around 3:45. I managed some interstate, some back roads and ended up (I'm not sure how...) on I-95! Traffic wasn't too bad. Unpacked/aired out tent, etc. Need to get it all ready again in two weeks for the Sherando Lake rally!

I wish I could have returned to HM again this year. I'm sure you all had a blast. Photos coming?

Another great Hungy Mother weekend, with just the right amount of precipitation.

Great seeing a lot of you all again and meeting some for the first time.

Now - who's handling the arrangements for next year?

Here are my pictures and I have to say, it's the worst one I have done in a while. I had been trying to take some 'action' shots while riding to spice up the ride reports but nearly wrecked the last time I tried it, so it is back to the mundane shots for this one. And group riding is not conducive to stopping much for pictures. But at least you can see we enjoyed ourselves!

When I came out of the restaurant, I forgot I had a bag of ice in my side case.
I saw that puddle and almost had a coronary until I caught myself.

Getting all new fluids and 2 new tires today (for better gravel travel) and getting a inspection on the FD bearings just the same.....
