pillion question

Hi i am a newbee to forum. I owned an 1150R some years back but wife complained seat was uncomfortable. now have a triumph tiger but looking at an R1200R wistfully. trouble is Pillion seat looks even smaller than before. can anyone give feedback on pillion comfort with a topcase please or on alternative seats?

Alan - this has been discussed a few times in one of the ongoing threads on seats - a bit of a search or some time spent reading existing posts might be useful. Not sure if everyone who replied originally is still on the forum, so some older posts might be quite valuable.

The R12R is a GREAT bike...
That desperately NEEDS a new seat.
I am happy with my Sargent seat. But there are many options out there.

Hi Alan:
I have an 07 RR that I had Rick Mayer build a seat for. We specifically set it up for the pillion to be more comfortable (if mama aint happy, NOBODY is happy!) as well as solving my problem with the stock torture seat. You can see the difference. Stock on left, Rick Mayer on the right:
Result was nothing short of wonderful. I have an all-day seat now, and The Boss has no complaints.
The back rest problem was easily solved by purchasing the large top-case (same as the RT). Dr. Judy (The Boss) says it is way better than the small case as far as comfort. The thing I noticed is that the large top-case does not push her forward into me when we ride, which for me is a good thing. I am not jammed into the tank anymore as was the situation with the small case. The only "problem" we have now is that she sat on a Goldwing and a LT, and absolutely loves the arm rests that can be attached to those bikes. She also noticed that the new K bike announcement shows armrests as an option on the GTL
