Where do you get your oil filters?

Okay, I'm trying to decide whether to continue using the "good" BMW filters or go with another brand. If I can get the BMW filter at a decent price, I'll just order several and keep them in stock. Any ideas?

I use Purolator Pure One filters.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H7 ... ss_product About $5 each. I use Mobile 1 oil, change oil at 6000 and filters at 3000. I think it's a good way to go.

AC Delco PF53.................less than $4 at Advance. Been using them for over 70,000 miles.

+1 on the BeemerBoneYard Bosch filters. They attach the metal crush washers too.

Looking into the BMW oil filter's big threaded hole you see a black plastic partition. I got curious what that was, so I cut my used filter apart. It turned out to be something I've never seen before. A second, microfine plastic mesh filter, whose only purpose is to filter the bypassed oil.
What's that? Well, when you start a cold engine and ride away, all the cold thick oil that lubes the engine has to pass thru the oil filter first. The higher engine RPM's create faster flowing oil which is too thick to pass quickly thru the filter paper filtering media. The oil filter's internal bypass valve opens up to relieve the potentially damaging excess pressure trying to push that cold thick oil thru the paper filter media. On everybody elses oil filter, that bypassed oil goes into the engine unfiltered. On the stock BMW filter, it goes thru the ultrafine plastic mesh filter you see in these pics below:

As you can see from the above pics, there really is more protection engineered into the BMW filter. Truth is, I am normally among the group that would use the car parts like EFI hose clamps or sparkplugs on the OilHead, but after examining the 2 stage design and high quality internals of the stock BMW oil filter, that's all I ever used for almost 64,000 miles. `09 F800ST

I totally agree with Rob; I'd rather pay a couple of pounds extra for the BMW item.

I like the BMW filter. I get them from my old man. He bought half a dozen, and then traded in his 1100RT for a 1200RT. So they showed up under my Christmas tree.

Just went out to local Pep Boys and picked up 2 Purolator PL10241 plus an oil removing tool for less than $15, tax included. I also found Mobil1 M1-102 and AC Delco PF53 in the same place. Used the tool to remove the stock oil filter and install the new one.
