My ride
R1100R 1995
Mileage about 18000 kiliometers.

Problem
1.Few weeks ago observed fuel dripping from overflow lines (two lines, not sure which one or both).
2.Take the bike recently for 700 km return trip.
3.Observed fuel dripping more frequently, 1 drops per 2 seconds from one of the overflow hose.
4.No carbon canister in this bike.
5.The overflow lines connected directly to the mounting plate.

What could be the problem? I have not yet take out the petrol gauge assembly.

one line is the spill over from the gas cap the other is the breather line. if either line or connection near the tank plate are compromised that could cause it. the other causes could be that the gas cap seal are bad and fuel is sloshing out. another cause could be that you are overfilling the bike which causes the overflow to flow into the charcoal canister saturating it to the point it leaks out the vent line.

I have findout the culprit, the inner tank hose (breather & spill) and clamps need replacement. Have replaced all hoses and petrol gauge gaskets. Surprised to see the two lines are inside the tank. Changed fuel filter as well.

Haven't met a rubber fuel hose which doesn't degrade whilst being held in constant fuel immersion
such as these breather lines another stupid BMW design designed to ultimately fail and whats more
normal over the counter fuel clamps wont fit, too big...

This happened to me in an outback town where i had to disassemble the bike in a gravel carpark
cut the hose & reattach it using the old clips after bending them back into shape and hoping
it would last whilst i ventured off into the desert.

The first time (somewhen in 2000) when I had to remove my tank I replaced the lousy clamps which came with the bike with some stainless steel clams closed with a screw-driver. Ever since I never had any problem. However a good idea today would be to use quick connectors made of brass ...
