Colloege football...

So far in Week 7
Florida almost lost to unranked Arkansas...
Texas looked shaky this week against Ok...
Va. Tech loses to Ga. Tech...
Ohio St. loses to Purdue...(I won't make fun, I promise)
?? more top 25 teams lose to unranked teams like Nebraska and now Kansas... with maybe more to come...
College football has become strangely competitive.

What's up with that...is it the scholarship limit or what? I love it...it's so much more interesting without the 5 top teams being untouchable by every other program in the country.
I'm thinking they should do away with these top 25 polls. I am so tired of listening to idiots and the ever-so-over-used "OVER-RATED" bashing...every week.
This is awesome. We could be looking at a Boise St. versus Cincinnati in the Rose bowl for the National Championship...

Waited for the BCS opening rankings before replying.
First (tongue in cheek): You just waited until Iowa was having a good year to start a football post!
Second: Out of the blue, WVU Mountaineers managed to be in the poll (bottom 5 of 25).
Third: Yes, parity has been here since early part of the century.
Fourth: How 'bout those Yankees?

First: I'm just amazed how the best teams...just look so mediocre even playing mediocre teams. I'm stunned how well teams like Iowa, Purdue, Arkansas are playing against the teams with the 5 star talent.
Second: I'm not a "believer" in the Hawkeyes quite yet. If they win in East Lansing next week...maybe. I consider Iowa a mediocre team doing extraordinarily well. They have had more talented teams in the past and could never compete with the top tier before. But, they are an incredibly hard working group this year.
Third: After the seventh inning stretch...Bama's gonna ride that horse, Ingram, right through that Yankee defensive line.

Gypsy,
I had never seen Longhorns in Iowa before... so I stopped and took some pictures. Those Horns are intimitdating... but they are too easily distracted by the cheerleaders.
... awwww he loves her!

Here's how it works; the top two teams in the SEC are the top two teams in the nation. Everyone else is playing for third place. The end.

I would say that the SEC champ vs. USC would be a good matchup.
I love it that the Boilermakers beat the Buckeyes. Purdue has not been as bad as their record. They just have had trouble holding onto the ball.

There is a lot to agree with there. If both Florida and Bama are undefeated playing the SEC championship...I consider the winner of that game the best in the nation. Although, if Texas is also undefeated, a rematch between FL and Bama for the BCS game???
Luckily, there's a lot more football to play before that scenario.

I have seen every UK game this year and have to say that Alabama looked beatable when we played them! IF, a big if, you took away the 21 pts they scored in a few minutes it was an even-steven game. Florida is not the best but very good. Several teams in the middle of the SEC are as good as any I have seen on TV in other conferences, when they are playing their "A" game. My condolences to IOWA, as they hope for the Rose Bowl, and their QB recovers to play on that stage...

I agree that Bama hasn't been all that impressive. If they bring their best game, they could still beat Floida in the SEC game. But, I'm afraid we are almost certainly looking at a Texas v. Florida in the championship. GO BAMA!
Thanks for the condolences...

My business has been in the crapper the last couple days.
I am still really proud of this Iowa football team.

They have battled too many injuries, and over-achieved every step of the way. We've been using a kid, that was in high school at this time last year, at running back the last couple games. But when it came time to play a freshman quarterback...and asking him to come from behind...that was just a little too much to ask for.
Now, all we can hope for is that Ohio State has a let down like Oregon next week, in Columbus.

Not being a 'I told you so' type of person, I'll make an exception here. If there's to be a playoff system, I think Florida should play Texas with the winner playing Boise State to see who is second in the nation. The SEC winner should just be crowned National Champion after the SEC (National) Championship Game!
