smelly clutch/brake fluid

Post by reef »

Hi,I was wondering what would be the cause of smelly clutch fluid.I have opened the reservoir to check fluid level and encountered strange kind of musty smell.I have change slave cyl. and of course fluid a one year ago approx.Fluid it self was not cloudy or darker color.I have flush clutch system just to be sure yesterday.Everything seems to be ok,but Iam just curious. It is anything to worry about?Thank you so much for your input.Regards Mark

Your symptoms lean toward the rear input shaft gearbox seal leaking into the slave cavity, slipping past the slave piston seal, to then be absorbed by the DOT-4 fluid.
