I just put new front and rear LED blinkers on my 2009 R1200R. I also installed an OEM switch for my future Motolight installation. I didn't need the wiring kit because the plugs match on '09 models.

Regarding the switch for your future lighting....again where did you purchase, cost, and how did you install.

Cost is about $135 or so. Cheaper by 20% if ordered from Chicago BMW - but takes longer to arrive.

The blinker part number is: 63137708048 (front and back are the same) They come individually so you need to order four. $56.50 each

2007-2008 bikes you'll need the retrofit kit: part # 71607711284

The switch part numbers are: 61317694815 Fog lamp switch $76.14 61317702063 Upper section of housing $11.14 61317702067 Lower section of housing $12.27

I ordered from Chicago BMW. Call them instead of ordering online because it's faster. If they don't have the parts in stock, it takes a week for them to arrive from BMW.

The switch is easy to install. Just unscrew the old housing from the back and install the new parts. I had to loosen the bracket holding the mirror and slide it out of the way by about a centimeter.

Dang! Now something else I must have! Looks good.

Great arent they? I got mine stock on my late 2008 baby. Dont look straight at them..... I cant see why all different screens wont fit around around them. I'd be interested with anyones experience.

Other than the obvious facts of longer life and good looks, are these babies significantly brighter than the filament-type bulbs?

I wonder if they could be easily made to work as running lights?

Yes shinys/u they are VERY bright, almost painful to look straight into. With hazards on (a great little attribute) the bike can be seen very easily.

An oscillator on the high beam, the FF50's (HID converted) on the crash bars, the PIAA's hanging from the handlebar grip shields, and hazard-blinking of these LED's, just MIGHT get their attention. (Probably not).

Sometimes I wish I had a huge sound system playing a recording of a 747 taking off... or a long mechanical arm to gently tap on their side windows... or a 30 mm minigun... ahh the mind wanders on long trips...

Hi SSU, yep ,modulator next with HIDs on aux. Personally I find a samurai handle stuck into a scabbard (minus sword so as not to offend anyone, hahahha) with leds along its length together with an amplified recording of a WW2 Tiger tank , replica twin .5 cal MGs from a good ol B17 fortress hanging on the front, a glow in the dark skull shaped helmet and a large yellow package marked "C4 explosives caution" perched on the front does the trick in alerting car drivers about 5% of the time. Well at least its better than nothing.........sigh Maybe more powerful indicators....do they make 20 gigawat yellow lasers????
