I would be interested to know how much real-world rear-wheel horsepower a box-stock R1200R delivers. Has anyone dynoed one?

On Noddy's Dyno at Bike Worx which is acknowledged as one of if not the best in South Africa it runs out at 100bhp & 106nm torque !

Does that mean it gives you the number you want, or accurately measures what you have?

Perhaps I should qualify the " one of if not the best " term to " the most accurate " !

It should be noted that folks with black bikes should expect 5 to 7 fewer HP.

In fact, the Crystal Grey bikes were discontinued because BMW discovered that some of the K1200GT's rear wheel horsepower had crept into the bike along with the colour. Apparently the paint itself lends another 10bhp at the rear. If you add the same paint to pannier and topcase lids, it goes up to 15bhp. My dealer advised ASC as a means of taming this ferocious beast.

Ah that would explain this peculiar aquired tendency to laugh hysterically and nod knowingly to M/C cops (ride R1200RTs).

There we go, Mort's Dynojet graph reads in hp/ft/lbs of torque 102hp / 79.12ft/lbs which converts to about 107 nm as opposed to the 106nm we got here - close enough - I guess it would differ a lttle from bike to bike.

What I find interesting about that graph is the steep incline from 4500 to 5000 rpm, which correlates with what I feel when I'm pulling out into traffic on my morning commute.

Also the peak is at 7000, so I don't really HAVE to go all the way to the rev-limiter when I feel I'm in trouble!

(If some of us were emptied of the horse poop, we'd be transparent! That said, I thank my lucky stars I ended up with the Crystal Grey and what a beast it is!)

Lucky for me then that the one I bought yesterday is Crystal Grey. Come on spring!

Any particulars such as mileage, state of tune, etc that would affect output? In other words would a showroom new bike have more power than a broken in one? Would a factory test pilot at the controls get more or a bonehead like me..lol....why I got granite grey....need all the extra I can get!
