BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

Has anyone any experience of either the clear lens version or the Triton 2 fitted to an R1200R?
Do they upset the can bus and throw up bulb failure warnings etc.?
Do they properly light up the rear licence plate?
Any advice / experience would be appreciated.

Just a couple of points that might be useful.
Firstly, the Triton 2 (and as far as I can make out any clear lens replacement) unlike the original rear light unit, does not incorporate a red reflector, which is a legal requirement in the UK. Without one there is a slight risk of getting attention from the police but more importantly your bike will fail its M.o.T. when it is required, unless you add a reflector which in my book would spoil the simple uncluttered look of the rear end or the R1200R.
I believe this is because it was originally designed for the K1200R which has a separate reflector and licence plate light in the UK
Secondly, the dealer told me it's not quite plug and play. One they had in before, for a customer, needed some filing of the spade connectors, which were wider than those on the bike harness. This I could live with but I will not cut the harness because of strange things that can happen with the can bus system.

It would be interesting to see more input on what people are doing with the taillight. I've read post where people really object to the looks of it (I believe the term was Baboon butt), personally I don't think it looks all that bad, but I've been looking at the clear lens with the LEDs to match the turn indicators.

I wonder how hard it would be to put the tail light from an R1200S on one of our bikes? Those are clear and non-baboon looking.
