Has anyone painted the windshield? I tried and the results looked pretty good, I got the effect I was looking for with the tint going from light tint to dark. The problem is that the paint does not adhere to the windshield. With a little solvent, it all came off. The paint was made for plastics. Does anyone know of a clear primer that will adhere to the BMW windshields?

What did you use to clean the windshield prior to painting? I use a special plastic prep cleaner.

I used Alcohol to clean it, and during the process I wore gloves.

I like the black/clear combo quite a bit, nice job!


When I painted mine I used R/C car hobby paint made for plastic lexan bodies. It worked well and stuck even after I smashed it in a wreck.
This is a great source for R/C paint if there's no local shop.

Polycarbonate Spray Paint

Used on the underside of clear Lexan radio controlled model bodies.
Paint chemically bonds to Lexan and polycarbonate, making it
extremely resistant to cracking, chipping and impact damage.

I know it's pricey but BMW does make a factory dark tinted sport screen.. it looks great and the color doesn't wear off.
