I like it, but then again I've always liked the design of the early Confederate Motorcycles and have seen some cool BMW Bobbers as well. For example I like this one:

Although their a little old for it (75+ years) I think BMW is having a mid-life crisis. Engines over 100HP, water cooling, just about every engine configuration you can think of, a race team in various venues and now this. An interesting time to be involved with BMW.

Must be giving the old black paint and white stripes guys a heart attack.

They've had engines making over 100hp for quite a while -- K and R bikes, and of course the HP2 models.

A pic I saw recently which I strongly suspect was the upcoming S675 supersport had one-sided front suspension. Looked weird. Might have only been a prototype, of course, but in BMW land about 50% of the models have some unusual kind of front suspension anyway, either Telelever or Duolever. The S1000 looks disappointingly conventional by comparison, though it'll be quite familiar to fans of Japanese sportsbikes

Just showing my age .
To some of us, a Beemer is black with white stripes and a Boxer engine (Earles Forks - maybe). When BMW started putting interesting paint jobs on in the 70s some people were appauled, and when the water cooled K came out in the 80s many swore they would never buy a new BMW again.
It's interesting that when most other motorcycle manufactures are putting a retro model in their line up of new bikes, BMW seems to be extending into all forms of motorcycling and putting out bikes with inovations that are looking into the future. I hope they're not over extending them selves with too many sticks in the fire. Now days when you go to a motorcycle show you go to the Beemer display to see what is new and interesting, most of the other manufactures are still making the same bikes with bigger engines than they had last year, or a retro bike.
Who would have guessed.

BTW: Some of us older guys think that the electric starter was the end of motorcycling as we knew it. BUT _ we most likely wouldn't be riding without one.
