I need some warm gloves and a good solution for my throat and neck, any ideas

Gerbing electric gloves can't be beat. I think most electric vests and jacket liners have heated collars. I have a balaclava that comes clear down to my shoulders that keeps my neck pretty toasty. I may go for the Gerbing jacket liner and dual controllers for Christmas.

Collar is heated-----once you keep the core of your body warm the rest is easy!

i shoulda specified, money is kinda tighter and i was thinking non heated.

Macy's sells a very sharp turtleneck made from fine Alsatian lambswool and handwoven by beautiful nomadic Peruvian maidens.

Try your local ski shop... look for a neck gator of turtle fur that has windblocker fleece. Works great. You'll love the softness... you'll probably keep rubbing it against your face thinking your in some kind of toilet paper commercial...
I ski with one of these in -30 temps and love it...This morning it was 39 and wore my grandoe ski gloves w/o the fleece liner and was fine. These gloves have a gaunlett and some kind of gore texy liner that blocks the wind very well. I don't have hand guards and was surprised how well they worked.

I'm in NE Iowa so I think we're dealing with the same basic temps...

Be warned... I'm crazy enough (or just stupid) to ski in 30 below weather so the cold doesn't bother me all that much....

Get a balaclava from Drag Specialties. Cheap and very effective.

Love my Aerostich Wind Triangle with fleece lining. Gloves - have you tried liners? A thin synthetic liner under leather gauntlet gloves give me an extra 10 degrees F.

About gloves. When I first got back into riding I bought some very good Goretex lined gloved with the thought that keeping my hands dry was 90% of keeping them warm. Well, what I found was that when you ride rain, as I do, and cold temperatures, that premium leather will get wet andl suck the life out of your hands. You can use over gloves to prevent this, but I decided to take an easier route. I bought Gerbing's Goretex lined, insulated, heated gloves. The covers are still a good idea on longer trips, but believe me, heated gloves rock !!

Thanks for the link. How well does your helmet fit with that balaclava? I have one like the triangle one from aerostich and it's pretty effective but sometimes lets cool air in from the side after doing a head check.

I think that these are the replacements for the Olympia 6000 gloves. RBrider let me borrow his pair last November when it was 22 degrees F and I had a 450 mile ride. I bought a pair when I got home.

I'm still experimenting with glove combinations, but I've found most gloves perform MUCH better with silk glove liners. There are a lot of different brands/styles so find one that fits your hand size the best. I can highly recommend this face mask from Bike Bandit.

I wear a balaclava anytime the temps did below 30ish and love it, my fleece one is a tight fit with a under the helmet but very warm for long distance travel, the silk one is not as warm, but perfect for getting to work and is not as snug under the hat.
