Ran across the site for Russell seats, looked at their Day Long version with the wider seating area and, of course, lots of testimonials on how comfortable they are on long rides. They look different than most seats because of the wider seating area, but looks aside, I would think they'd be comfortable.
Any experiences with them?
All the typical aftermarket seats look more like the stock seats - kind of like straddling a log.
Thanks!

The general consensus is that they are very comfortable but one mfugly looking seat. If you can get over the looks of it
, I don't think you will be disappointed with the comfort.

Re: Opinions or experience with Russel seats?
I bought a used 2003 with a Russell Daylong. It almost looks like a mini bucket seat. I wouldn't call it ugly but it is not as sleek as a stock seat or some other aftermarket seats I have seen. The comfort more than makes up for the looks. It is also not cheap -- around $650 for the model that I have. At first, I thought it was too wide for my in-seam length, but I got used to it. However, I called Russell and they said they would be happy to reshape the seat for me to make it a bit narrower for my in-seam length. In fact, that's one of the benefits of a Russell. They will custom-fit it to your body size and specs.

Re: Opinions or experience with Russel seats?
A friend of mine has one on his FJR and absolutelty loves it. He has tried sheepskins, Airhawks, Corbins, and others but gives all the praises to the Day Long. I think that all the stitching that creates all the little raised square patterns let air flow and aids in helping monkey butt.

Re: Opinions or experience with Russel seats?
After 4 years and 65K, I am very pleased with the Russel seat
You get what you pay for. I think my Russel seat looks nice and especially when I sit on it.
750-1000 miles a day is a breeze on the Russel seat.
+1 for Russel seat.

Re: Opinions or experience with Russel seats?
Thanks for the replies - nothing like first hand experience.
I think when I do decide to pry out enough long green for a seat,
it'll be a Russel. My comfort is more important than how I look -
I'm too old to worry about that anyway! :-/
