Brake drag

Brake drag
I just re tired (new tires). After installing the front wheel, there is a LOT of drag when rotating the front wheel by hand. I tightened the axle nut and compressed the front fork before tightening the pinch bolts. Ideas?

Re: Brake drag
Had the exact same symptom of front brake drag on my Edn.80 Rockster, and was unable to tweak the front calipers to free up the front wheel's rotation. Dealer's service personnel noted the same thing, and had no luck remedying the brake drag.
But I found a solution: removing the ABS system. Yep, the front wheel rotates freely now that the Integrated ABS servo system is gone. This is an interesting artifact that I didn't expect, but am glad for the result. We have never experienced front wheel brake drag on our non-ABS Roadster, and thus the Rockster's front wheel friction was a source of concern and contribtued to my iABS contempt.

Re: Brake drag
Well that's not an option. The ABS has saved my bacon twice on the R1100 R. It exhibits NO front wheel brake drag, by the way.

Re: Brake drag
Well the problem was a brake pad hanging up in the caliper on the right side. Solution: Undoing/removing the torx bolts holding the caliper and "rocking" the caliper while on the rotor. I felt the pad pop back into the caliper. Rotating the wheel by hand now exhibits very little drag.
