MLW & I were on our way to visit my grandson 300 miles south when I realized I didn't have as much life in my tread as I thought before I left. When I left the house there was tread groove all the way across the tire, I knew it was approaching it's end of life, but thought I'd be OK until our return. At our first rest stop, about 100 miles, there was no longer any tread across the center of the tire. The rate of tread loss really surprised me so at lunch, Skeeters Pit Barbeque in Shamokin Dam PA, I started calling around. I'd stopped prior to that at a generic mom & pop but they didn't have any Conti tires. I called BOB's BMW in Maryland (the only dealer I could think of) and they had one but told me that Hermy's would be closer (+1 for the friendly staff @ Bob's).
When I called Hermy's they had the right tire (rear Road Attack) and said they would put it on as long as I got there before 5:00. The tire was only a little more than I would have paid delivered from Iron Pony and the install, including wheel removal, was very reasonable too. The staff was very friendly & courteous, the riding shoes MLW was wanting (BMW 'sneaker') were on sale and the clearance rack had a XXL t-shirt for me. Maybe every dealer is as nice to deal with as they are, but I didn't feel like I was getting raked over the hot ones at all, in fact I paid less than I would have at my local dealer. I told them I'd heard of them from when someone at the Bash got t-shirts gratis from them for door prizes (he was even riding a Honda when he got the t-shirts).
Kudos to Darryl & the service department @ Hermy's.

Re: Two thumbs up for Hermy's BMW
When the R1200GS first came out I test rode a red one there after talking at length with the parts guy. Nice clean dealership in a woodsy rural country setting on rt61 in Port Clinton, PA.
Somehow in the conversation our 1150R website came up and I was asked if I knew an R1150R rider in that group named Dave Howe from Texas, his dealer's Tucker Rocky Parts representative. Yes, I did!! It is none other than "DarthRider", whom I have also spoken to on the phone. Wow! What a small world !
DarthRider, as some of the old members may recall, has gone to the "other" BMW chatboard.

Got my First BMW a R1150R there a month ago, really enjoyed the experience, because of the staff there. They are just a 20 Minutes away from me.

But he is still doing well, and is retired in North Texas. Still has Darth, too.CycleRob wrote: DarthRider, as some of the old members may recall, has gone to the "other" BMW chatboard.
