The shifter rubber on my R1150R leaves black marks on all of my left toes.
It's not such a big deal on "riding" boots but I use the bike for commuting to work where riding boots aren't quite so appropriate.
Can I replace the black rubber? I've not determined how it is installed or whether it will readily come off.
I suppose I could wrap it with something but I was looking for something a bit more permanent like some vinyl tube.
Any suggestions?

There's a couple of tip replacements might work for you, supposed to give better feel and grip on the lever too. Wunderlich do em, I'm sure there's others too...

I think the more practical solution is to just leave a pair of shoes at the office or pack them with you. You can replace the shifter rubber, but due to it's location, no matter what you use, it's going to pick up dirt and pass it on to the tops of your shoes.

That's what I do. I want my feet and ankles protected by good boots while riding to work. I have a pair of nicer shoes at work that I change into.

I think that any material on the shifter would eventually make marks on your shoes.

I use one and takes care of the problem.

I have the Wunderlich version and it leaves a silver mark instead of black.
I take my work shoes in my tankbag to work.
I thought about some clear tubing to slide over but have not tried it. My boots are sort of thick and it may make it harder to shift.

All five of them? Just put on some socks!

All good suggestions. I had not heard of Shifter Skinz, that would work.
Also, the notion of wearing black shoes and socks has merit.
I was really wondering how the shifter rubber is installed. Looks like the toe peg is pressed into the shifter arm?
If I could figure out how to dissasemble, I'd replace the black rubber with clear tube.

Just drive to Lowe's Electrical Dept. and buy some white heat-shrink tubing and heat it to the black shifter rubber. The down side it may not last forever, buit can be easily replaced.

Place left foot in a Tesco plastic carrier bag. For added comfort tie string around the ankle, this will keep the rain out.
