After a year with it I've decided to get my bike back to more of the intended Naked look and trim some weight for trips at the same time, for better handling...or picking up out of the mud. So I've made a few changes.

After the riding I did last year some guards have become a necessity for me, I already knocked one cooling fin off my engine block so I've added a GS skid plate.
I also added some valve cover guards, not to keep them from being scratched because they both already are... I'm just worried about a rock punching through while I'm pretending I'm on a dirt bike, effectively ending a trip I might be on this year.

So I moved the HyperLight from the Pelican top box I had, and removed it along with the tail rack.
I have replaced it with a easily removable BMW 51L soft bag (with a hard bottom). For camping/fishing trip I will just use this bag with my tent in a H2W bag strapped to the forks. I have tested it and everything I need for trips fits just fine in it, with room to spare for groceries or a Gerbings jacket.

A few weeks ago I removed the Z-screen to swap out the mount, and have been riding with the sport screen after having the touring screen on for a few days. It is pretty nice being in clean air for a change, and I plan on keeping it on for a while. Plus with the little screen I can really tell when you're going faster than you should be from the pressure on my body, and that's a good thing - with the Z-screen it's easy to go fast and not really notice it on the highway...
With the sport screen back on I wanted to change the look of my front end and make it more conspicuous at the same time, so off to the local hobby shop I went...... this is what I ended up with.

All of the stuff I need..... including sleeping bag + pad, Kermit Chair, raingear, and everything else I need for an Adventure - minus the scotch.

I find the sport screen more than adequate and find tall screens to noisy. The bike in my opinion looks best with sport screen.

I find the sportscreen adequate for my needs, and very pleasant on hot summer days!
(plus the bike looks much better with the sportscreen)

Is that an aftermarket seat? Who made it?

The pillion section looks like it would be more comfortable than stock, and seems to suit the bike better than most I've seen so far.

It's a custom Rocky Mayer seat, but has a Rick Mayer tag on it. I purchased it from another member here, so I don't really have all the details of it's design...

For my usage I doubt I'll switch out the sport shield.I don't find the airflow an issue at all and I agree on it helping to keep you aware of your speed as it's so damn easy to get speeding in an hurry on this thing on the highway.

ChiTown...I notice you have a skid plate fitted...which one, and did you have to make any modifications?

I like what you did to the sport shield.
I've been meaning to paint mine black and put some white stripes on it. Will post when I do, but right away I see that it needs a little something. Maybe a BMW sticker, or in your case, an ADV sticker would look just dandy.

Also, are the bag mounts still the ones for the tail rack, but you've somehow removed the tail rack?
I'm daydreaming of getting rid of my tail rack because I think the naked bike looks awfully pretty. When I bought the top box the dealer installed it and kept my original bag mounts. At the time it didn't seem like I'd miss 'em, but now....

Anyway, the naked look is very nice.
It'll be cooler in that chicago heat too....
