Need to connect a GPS to R1150R

I need to hard wire a GPS to my 2004 R1150R. I would like it to be a switched connection, and I hate to cut into a wiring bundle to connect (say, to the brake light wire). Does anyone have a suggestion as to a good location to connect the wires?
Thanks,
regjacksn

Thanks for the advice. It's amazing how simple something is once you know what to do!

Put a power outlet connector on the gps cord and use a power outlet. I'm sure You could wire it to an auxiliary relay and wire the relay coil to the ignition accessory. If You have abs be careful what You tie into. I have a service manual but can't tell which diagram to use. PM Me if You want help finding a location to wire the auxiliary relay.

You can do as I did and tap into the #2 fuse for a quick solution...

or you can follow John's (Dr. Strangelove) excellent post for an even better way to do it.

Make sure your GPS can handle 12 volt power or you'll fry the expensive toy!

If you don't know it's voltage requirement, check the "Output" of the Auto Adapter or charger. (probably 5 or 12 Vdc)

If it requires 5Vdc and is powered using a mini-USB connector like my Garmin Nuvi, you will need to use the manufacturers Auto-Adapter (Cigarette Lighter type). You can make a cheap female plug by getting a Y-Adapter at Wal-Mart and tearing it apart but you will need to add some wire to the Negative lead to reach the battery.

Wire in the the female plug using Fuse Taps (Radio-Shack) as shown above.

I'm hopefully mounting my Nuvi 360 this weekend and will take some pictures.
