Anyone have experience with these ? http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/pr ... w/412/246/
They appear to offer protection for the heads in the event of a tip over, and possibly a place to stretch your legs on the highway. I just picked up a 2003 R1150R and can't wait for the snow to melt to ride it, and am considering these bars, or the plastic cylinder protectors. The price is not that much different. Any info/opinons welcome. Great forum!!

I have Hepco and Becker bars fitted to my R, and since installation some time ago, haven't dropped the bike once, but ain't that the way, but that ain't a bad thing. I do have cylinder head protectors fitted, and did drop the bike on a dirt road before the bars were fitted. The plastic cylinder head protectors offered minor protection, but disintegrated in the slide and the cylinder was scuffed; hate to think what damage bitumen would have inflicted.

Can't say I find resting one's feet on the crash bars on longer rides is all that satisfactory, but I guess we all do the foot-peg front to rear shuffle, as well as the heel to toe polka on the pegs to relieve aches...might have been better if BM designers were more ergonomically sensitive. Guess they feel their shortcomings is supporting the after-market industry by creating needs.

In moments of road rage where tin can drivers have asserted their physical dominance, I have considered attaching James Bond type gadgetry to the crash bars that would inflict some suitable retribution to their vehicles... perhaps I should link this thought to the "Parts we wished they made" thread.
