Upholstery Question

I have a rear seat plate which Beemeridian gave me. It had a ton of fiberglass gunk attached to it which I have successfully peeled off. I adjusted the lock pins so it will lock down as the seat is supposed to. It wouldn't lock down before. What I need is some advice on where I might take this seat to have some padding and cover put over it to match the other seat. Right now I'm using it as a makeshift luggage plate for camping gear. Works great for that, but is butt ugly.
Would a regular furniture upholsterer be able to do this? Any suggestions? Short of sending it off to one of the Mayers or something equally draining on my wallet.

Boxer,

I took my seat to a car upholsterer. I had gone to a furniture guy who had done work for me before, but he had no interest in a motorcycle seat recover and is the one who suggested not using a furniture upholsterer. He sent me to someone he had used to replace headliner in his car. I also had tried a boat shop and they wanted about $350 just to recover a perfectly good seat. No padding needed - just a straight recover with marine grade vinyl.

Shop it though, because there was a huge variance in prices. I ended up paying $125 for both front/pillion seats to be re-covered. However, I supplied the material.

My experience is that car upholstery shops will use foam that's too soft. Why not call Sargent, in Jacksonville, and get a price from them?

Phil,

I have a "luggage plate" sprayed with Linex. If you are interested, pm me.
Also have a spare passenger seat with a small tear in it.
