Question about '08 model

Went to a dealer in Knoxville TN and they told me that the new '08 model R1200R's will be available in a limited edition paint job. He said it would have custom white hand painted pin stripes on the black model, and each tank would be signed. Is this new for '08? I seem to remember BMW doing the same thing with the R1100R for one season.

I only know that the '08 models will have an altered seat with should provide greater pillion comfort and that there might be an extra bolt on the reardrive to let the oil out for service.

The dealer I went to told me BMW had exceeded their expectations with the R1200R, I guess that's what their celebrating! In either case, he indicated that the tanks would have a custom hand painted and signed scheme, and that there was only a limited number of these bikes to be available in the US... I guess I should start saving my pennies!!! But, black...I kinda got partial to my Atlanta Blue Roadster. I guess black would do....

that seat better fit our bikes! Paint job/schmaint job...and signature? No biggie there..but yeah that seat better fit our bikes..why wouldn't it?
As for limited numbers available...kind of like the stephen wright line. "everywhere is walking distance if you have the time" ..Weren't the number of R1200Rs this year limited ..to the number they made...I mean if they could not have made 10 million R1200Rs this year..isn't that limited?

Maybe your dealer is going to pinstripe and sign some of those babies himself in an effort to boost pre sales for the '08 model
I understood that the seat would fit the models before 2008 but nothing is sure untill they hit the showroom floors I guess.

The "new seat" is the options, either high or low, no standard height. Also the PIA "option packages", no ESA unless chrome muffler etc. You cannot pick and choose your options as in the past, even if you are willing to pay a higher price than the package cost. I ended up having to order with the chrome muffler, and the computer in order to have ESA & ABS, clear signals, center stand, heated grips. Worked it all out with the dealer untill it was a win/win situation for both of us. Of course there are none in NJ so now we wait.
white turn indicator $fifty dollars

For the $fifty dollars I see on most r12r invoices, is the WHITE TURN indicator the same thing as Clear Signal indicator (I thought I saw it under a diff name, I could be wrong)? Also, on models after a certain date (I dont recall that date), it is supposed to include LED technology.
Why it is $50 to change out a yellow lens for a clear/white one makes me curious.... My bike has what looks like a bulb in it as do almost every one I've seen. I'd need to go look if it is visually any different with a bike on the showroom floor now, since it is presumably a bike from after the cutover date. Any clarity around this?

I assume the person who painted the tank, at least thats the way it was with the R1100R special edition.

It's signed by Elvis.
