Just installed the Kaoko unit today in about 3 minutes. Works like a charm. Only complaint, seems overpriced, but I guess I'm just new to the world of BMW farkles and the falling dollar.
I've never used the Throttlemeister, so can't compare, but this is simplicity and feels safe in its action: rolling off the throttle disengages it with the the tension I have on the friction set screw.

So the Kaoko works well with the hand guards? Groovy. Come this winter I'll get some. I like my Kaoko a lot. I never question my masters when it comes to priceing.

Nice setup with the Kaoko's. Being cheap, I wanted to use what I had without spending more money on a second set of throttle lockers, so I did this:

My pair of GS hand guards finally came UPS today. How about that, I said I was going to do something and I did it when I said I was going to do it! I will install them tomorrow. High around 60. I have some friends who make mead and their Meadery is having a Christmas party. I don't drink mead as a rule so it will be a good trip on the bike. If there are any helpful hints on the install with the Kaokos or better yet more pictures please let me know. It looks like it might be a tight fit to get the end to sit where it should and to get the braces to line up right.

And are those 3.5 mm allen wrenches you need for the removal of the mirror holders? I have many sets of metric allen keys but not one with a 3.5mm.

AFAIK - there is perhaps one allen screw on the bike. The mirror holders are torx screws - like almost everything else on the bike. Don't use allens - you'll bugger them up.

ka5ysy , Do you know where I can find out more about the install of the hand guards with the Kaoko set up? The bushings in my kit are too large and the M12x90 Mk countersunk head screw looks like an engine mounting screw it is way too big! The bushings don't fit my bar end weights at all.

I thought I felt my ears burning... Yeah, I installed them using the bolts from mcmaster. See this post for the source:

The only hassle was that the aluminum bushings protruded too far so that the handguards wouldn't tighten.
Not having a bench vice, I held each bushing in a vice-grip and sanded down the central protrusion until it it was just thinner than the plastic of the of handguard. I used my belt sander on its side on the garage floor. I took a little off at a time and checked often to make sure the material was being removed evenly.
They've worked fine for a couple of months now: no movement whatsoever.
