Backward movement of Givi topcase?

Hello all,
I have a Givi topcase monokey 52 liter mounted on my 02’ R1150R. My wife is complaining that the case is too near to her and hurting her back. Does anyone know if it is possible to move the case few inches backward?
Regards
Robert

A user on the forum (TicTac50) has moved the box. He might be able to help and post pictures.

I have the same case E52 and I ended up with the same problem. After the GIVI case was installed, I had no use for the BMW silver plate and was trying to sell it at one of the BMW Rallies. I am glad nobody wanted it. E52 GIVI case with the backrest pad leaves no room for the passenger, or very little room, should I say. I called GIVI USA and got no results. I know that GIVI did change the mounts for R1150R couple of years ago, but I have the old monorack sidearms #641FZ and M5 mount plate. I took M5 plate the the machine shop and asked them to use 1/2 inch metal plate and cut it to fit into M5 FZ plastic plate. When I got the metal plate home, I placed it on the top of the side rails (at the tail) and marked the location I need. I actually was able to move GIVI case about 5 and 3/4 inches back. Drill the holes in the location you need to install the meal plate. Bolt the new plate to the rails and M5 FZ plastic plate to the new metal plate. Make sure you use stainless still flat head bolts. Since I ended up with the big gap from the back seat to the case, I was able to install my old BMW silver plate by cutting a bit. I looks nice and now I have enough room. If you need pic or more instructions, please PM me any time.
Good Luck.

I'm glad to at least hear that there is a top case out there that fits the R1150R. I was at the local BMW dealership today to ask about a top case, and a manager there (service manager, I think) told me that nobody makes a solid top case for my bike, including Givi. He even looked through two or three catalogues and briefly fiddled around online. Then he tried to sell me a soft pack, which is not what I want.
Does anyone else other than Givi make a hard top case for the R1150R?

Hello scribbling,
Yesterday I went to the BMW dealer to show him the modification I made for the Givi. I saw the service manager who was sick at that time when they offered me the small case. He was surprised that they didn’t offer me the big top case of the RT. According to him it is a matter of little and easy modification to the rack! Anyway for me it is too late now!

scribblin,
JC Whitney has a top case that is inexpensive and can be mounted on the R. I do not have one but almost bought one this year. I have seen other guys that do have one on the forum.

I might look into fitting the RT case as at least the lock can then be coded to the ignition key - although I expect the price will be exhorbitant - especially at UK prices.

I believe Hepco Becker makes a mount and hard case to fit the 1150R. I have the 36 liter GIVI and GIVI mount. It is very solid, but like others have said, the case is too close to the rider. I never ride two-up, but even carrying camping gear is a little cramped. I plan to move mine back if I keep the bike. ( Just got a new F650GS and the wife is saying I have a bike too many. However, nothing makes me smile when I ride like the R-bike does.)
