In covering my bike at work this morning I noticed one of my rear signals popped off and is hanging by the wire. I can't see anywhere where I clipped it or someone knocked it. I don't see any damaged clips inside but it won't just pop back on.

Does anyone know how these things go back on or what I should be looking for in the way of broken clips?

Also - if it does need to be replaced, am thinking of lower profile signals. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is it separated at the stalk/bike point or where the stalk goes into the housing? If it's the first, then you have a screw lose (he,he) . If it's the latter, then you'll have to slide the housing back on the stalk (take the lense off and you'll see what I mean).

As far as lower profile lights, BMW has LED Turn Signals that must have a load equalizer built in, as they do not cause the bulb-out warning. However, you'll have to be a bit patient as they are currently on backorder and not expected back in until August. The part number is 63 13 7 708 048 and they are sold ea, so you'll need to order 4 of them.

Another bike falling apart story.
While at a local Moto Guzzi Rally (150 Geese and 2 Beemers) a few minutes after the midnight hour the conversation was interrupted by the audible KLUNK of something hitting the cement floor of the pavilion we were sitting and parked under. A few of my 'former' riding buddies looked at my new pride and joy and then at me with big smiles on their faces. The reflector on the front fork, attached by double sided tape, had picked the lull in the conversation to fall off. So much for superior Teutonic engineering, the embarrassment was almost too much to bear. Upon arriving home I removed the other reflector, I wonder if the Euro and Australian bikes have the same reflectors or if they were an after thought to satisfy the DOT in the States.

I'm considering litigation to compensate me for the severe mental scars that I have suffered and will suffer from this incident.

In Holland we have no silly reflectors...

Mogu83, How grievous your pain must be. At least this did not happen in front of Jap bike riders.

We have never had them in the past but I have noticed that they are on the new R1200R's.

Had you been at a Harley rally nobody would have noticed the reflector with all the chrome parts on the ground

Yup, it just popped off the stalk. Unfortunately I snapped the little clip trying to pop it back in without unscrewing it before I read this. So i went to the dealer to just get another clear lens. Not to bad: $15.

No screws loose - at least in relation to my signal. We won't get into the rest of my mental status.

Unfortunately when I got home I found a screw in my tire. Now I have to go back to the dealer tomorrow morning and BEG for an appointment so I can take the bike out for our weekend trip to our friend's beach house.

Oh well, such is life driving around the big city.
