I want to buy a motorcycle lift for the garage. The problem is I don't have a lot of room. I would really like one that I can straddle with the car when it's not in use. The one I like is:
http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Produ ... ow=ExtInfo but it's 7.25 inches high fully collapsed. I don't think I can straddle that with the car.
Anyone know of a good motorcycle lift that will fit under a car?

If you Google "motorcycle lifts" you get a lot of choices. I found one that lowers to 6.5" that's similar in price and design to your linked lift. Measured Ann's 2004 Civic and it has 6.5" of ground clearance. That gave me an idea. How about elevating the car's track with 2" x 12" x 12' planks anchor studded to the cement floor? You'd then just drive onto the properly spaced and located boards and the car is high enough to clear your new lift.
For years my truck drove over a 22ft Aluminum extension ladder and even now there is "stuff" like long lumber, drain pans and my bike's loading plank under the truck & the car. It's just efficient use of space, even with a 2-car garage.

Handy makes a moto lift that was reveiwed in Webbikeworld: Handy S.A.M. 1000. The writer indicates he parks right over the lift...check it out:

...Just waiting for the right moment (and time to save $$) to get one for myself.

That looks good. I don't think I can straddle 7" with my car. I may have to do use the 2x12 as Rob suggested. They just seem like trip hazards when the car's not in the garage though.
