...and if I've read the posts on this forum correctly I better bring my checkbook.

I'm thinking of trading in my R1100S and my trusty CB700SC. The goal is to get down to one bike thats as fun to commute with as the Honda, but is a little more modern.

The S seems happier on long, winding roads and is fantastic when I go on a tour, but commuting on it is misery. I forgot the last time I smiled riding in to work. :(

After reading the posts in this forum it seems like the more upright riding position of the R is akin to the Honda which always gave me more good rides than bad.

Any advice for me before I go for a long ride tomorrow?
I'm thinking of taking the R and the GS out for a spin....

Advice: Take your checkbook.

You will want to buy the Roadster. It just happens. Funny part is - everyone I know who did this bought one and is still really in love with the bike.

Oh - don't forget to post tomorrow night - what color you picked.

Just remember, black is the fastest colour and the pinstripes improve the aerodynamics immensely!

Oh, and make sure your ears are firmly attached. They'll help stop the grin from making the top of your head fall off!

Good news, bad news.

The bad news is that the dealer closed early today and is not open Sunday or Monday. They were kind enough to call and remind me this morning, but there was no way I could make it over in time to test ride the R

The good news is that I got to play with the S all day today in the mountains of VT. :D
What a blast. Today was just perfect....

...of course it felt a little like an affair. As much fun as I'm having with the S I'm still secretly pining for an R and I have a test ride scheduled for Thursday.

We'll see if its as fun as you all say.
Until then its off to Smugglers Notch tomorrow morning to flog the S a little more.

I'll keep you posted on the color. 8)

You are about to be assimilated; you definitely need the checkbook as you will not leave without the bike, so deal with this reality.

Actually, the granite grey stealth fighter is the fastest. The white pinstripes cause some aerodynamic drag, and blackbody radiation from the front causes a negative thrust vector which slightly slows the black versions. Simple physics!

I just got back from a rally in Huntville Ala. today.
There was one other R1200R there (other than mine ). Although his bike was black without the stripes and mine was silver ( I forget the offical name for the color ) both of us did better with the wimmin than owners of any other brand or model of bike there.
This might be something to consider before perchasing one of these bikes.
