Took my bike down for the 600 mile service. A good friend rode down with me;. I suggested to kill time he take a test ride on a Roadster. His current ride is an '05 K1200S - which for some reason he hasn't been riding all that much. Only has 11,000 miles on it. He'd been considering a new GS, but thought it was a bit slow..

So he went for the ride. Came back grinning. At that point I knew he was done for. He said it was still pulling at 115MPH (a test I haven't tried with mine). He likes to go fast. He started telling me and the salesman who went with him how much he liked the riding postion and the handling. Goner for sure. Then he started talking about how nice the power was. Done for.

He's picking it up on Monday :-) The deciding factor was when I asked him "Dennis, when's the last time you came back from a ride grinning?"..

His wife said he can't play with me any more..

And we're trying to think who we want to work the R12R test ride magic on next.. (evil grin..)

Hey Don:

This is great... I love to spend other people's money. I have a good friend that I am about to corrupt too. I figure I spent a wad on RR, so I need some company !

He too, will be assimilated: Resistance is Futile!

Hmmm.... Maybe we are on to something here. I wonder if the Borg have taken over the BMW plant

Snicker---snicker..... Me too..... K1200R to the RR..

"DON'T TEST RIDE ONE WITHOUT YOUR CHECKBOOK HANDY".

That should be the new slogan for the RR. IF it makes it there..I want royalties!

hey Jersey, let's ride!

Off thread but...

Jersey rides - all for it - I'm outta Hoboken.
Going to be getting in touch with NYC owner's group. Apparently they meet at the bottom of the palisades each Sunday to start their rides. So I hear.

would be cool to get all (read some) the NJ R1150 R and R1200R guys for a Sunday ride. We'd get looks fer sure! Maybe we could get shirts that say "LOOK, NO NOISE" ??

Wellllll....

If anyone isn't doing anything tomorrow (Weds 23rd) - I'm doing a ride from Lambertville to PA Dutch country with a few friends. Looking for food and covered bridges. I'll be in the parking lot of the Lambertville Station at about 10AM. RSVP is nice - but if you want to just show up.. feel free. Figure on recrossing the river back to NJ well before rush hour..

Mine was delivered Wednesday 23rd May, a friend looked at it and sat on it on Friday - guess what - he's hooked - selling his Honda Transalp and ordered a new R1200R

Hmmmmmmmmm ?????

Ya know, I am beginning to wonder if BMW has some kind of Bio-warfare chemical incorporated the R1200R paint that effects brain cells and makes a test rider lose all control of his checkbook and mental faculties resulting in an instant sale. It also makes instant permagrin a chronic problem afterward and is highly addictive resulting in wanting to ride all the time for a fix.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

Hi! My name is Doug and I am an R1200R-aholic. Yikes! :smt006

Hi Doug

Wrong!
That's not how it's done.
The real approach is typically German high-tech.
In fact they have nano-technology injection syringes hidden in the seat.
Filled with happyness hormones.
So prolonged riding results in chronic permagrin.
But the downside of this is that some of us find the seat a bit uncomfortable.
Well, there's always two sides to everything.

Cheers

I am lucky(if you want to call it that, I don't) as my local dealer does not allow test rides. The Rally in July (BMWMOA) is really my test ride. I will sign up for the R1200R, and maybe a K1200S....not sure, so many to choose.
