Wunderlich 'R1200R Trophy' special / fairing

I love Wunderlich (if not their price list), and they've just started to turn out some parts for the R12R now too.
I was looking for their improved TomTom Rider cradle, but found the link to some of their specials - they do occasional 'show bikes' to demonstrate their parts. Usually they're a bit overcooked for my taste, but this looks great with this fairing - a good alternative to the Wudo / Wudoe?:

R 1200 R “Trophyâ€Â
We were exited by the regained simplicity of the new R 1200 R, it felt easy for us to tailor a classic outfit for it. Inspired by the legendairy R 90 S and the R 100 CS (a favourite of Mr. Wunderlich) a modern classic was created.
The classic looking half-fairing and colour scheme retains a certain racing feeing. In our mind, clothing the “Trophy†with carbon fibre parts seemed inappropriate. Therefore we treated it with steel engine bars in typical classic style, as used in the past for any Boxer, no matter if sport or touring machine.
Over 20 years of BMW experience allowed us to choose substantial improvements that increase savety and provides a better, joyful riding experience.
A selection of the parts fitted:
• High strength upper fork clamp with tapered RIZOMA handle bars and 4cm horizontally adjustable handle bar position.
• VarioLever set.
• ERGO seat.
• Front indicator relocation below the tank.
• RIZOMA LED indicators at the back.
• Rear light “Triton2†with LED technology.
• ZARD PowerGun exhaust and header pipes.
• Chilli-Power motor with 120 HP.
Also fitted (only for the concept bike):
• Lightweight spoke wheel set.

Any idea on a price for that fairing--it looks great...Gotta love the spoked wheels on there too!

Reviving an old thread.
Click here for pics and pricing. Have to say this style is my kind of bag. The price, not so much. Does anyone have this mounted and would care to share experiences?

I'd be really interested in this, except for two reasons:
1 - $800? are they outta their everlovin' minds?
2 - It didn't look a lot like a JC Whitney fairing I once paid $35.00 for..

I know the JCW one will require some fabrication of brackets - but not $700 worth of brackets.. and the finish on the JCW $70 one isn't bad. Good enough to be quite acceptable. Have'ta go measure my headlight.. Wonder if it will clear my instruments... hmmmm...

I had an Emgo cafe fairing on an old 650 twin. Looked a lot similar to the first JCW fairing you posted. It worked well. In the style of cafe fairings the protection was only given if you're willing to lean down. But even without laying on the tank the protection was way better than naked.
The quality was a bit random. For the one I had I had to redrill some of the holes that attach the top to the bottom part. As it came out of the store it looked like a twisted mess.
I paid $50, maybe 2-3 years ago. Can't argue much with that. For the R I'd like something more solid, but not $800 type solid. Come to think of it, I paid $800 for the 650 and rode it for 9 years.

I have never known of someone actually purchasing one of these Wunderlich or Wudo fairings.
The only time I have seen one on a bike was in their advertisements.
If they are $800 then they are 300 or 400 over priced.
If the price was right you would see them on bikes. People would purchase them. Elementary.

Well, After you finally decide to let loose of all that money and get the very nice looking little fairing on your bike and the buffeting and wind noise is unbearable.
Then what?

Well said. If I had to take a wild guess it'd be that riding with this little fairing is probable like on any sport bike: constant stream of air and only partial protection. That's better than a pulsating beating but not long distance quality.
BTW, buying this in Germany runs at approximately $550. It's a similar saving for other Wunderlich parts. If anybody plans a tour the Alps vacation it would be a perfect combination for doing some shopping.

I know our bikes are supposed to be naked, but there is something classic about the fairing. Still, it wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea,

I finally saw a Wunderlich fairing on an R1200R in person a couple on weeks ago.
I was less impressed than I thought I would be. The fellow who had the fairing said it took two years for the fairing to arrive and it cost $690.
The bracketing looks well made and not at all chincey. For the money however I was kind of let down.

You didn't get to take a test ride by any chance, did you? What did you not like? Besides the price, I mean. I still think this thing looks extremely sexy.

I guess I still like it and I would buy it for $300. just not close to $700. Seems to be well made.

$800 bucks isn't much worse than buying four different tall windshields, none of which work very well and turn your beautiful little roadster into a 'granny-style' motorcycle. That Trophy makes the R12R look like a modern R90S and that's cool..

How about something like this? I had one on a Yamaha 650 twin and it was sweet. Don't know if it will fit the RR though. I am really itching though. My Cee Bailey works fine but to me it and others like it don't really look right to me. Wunderlich etc are hugely overpriced when JCW and others have similar products for 10 times less $$. Just my opinion but I don't like the Rifle Fairing as well as an R90 fairing or the Wunderlich one.

Wund's fairing looks good but standard. The price seems high. Parabellum offers a sport fairing for about $600.00 and looks good also. Another aftermarket dealer that offers fairing is
http://www.hanniganmotorcyclefairings.com/ and I seem to recall reading the fairing is very quiet and has little drag. The fairing from this company is different... check it out.

Hannigan was at the MOA rally and had an R1200R with their fairing on display. I like it but most on this forum don't.
