What's on the To Do list?

Post by riceburner »

Currently, I'm waiting for a few things in other parts of 'life' to happen before I can do some modifications to my Rockster, and the time: it is a'draggin'.

I managed recently to swap the shocks for Nitrons, but I've only done about 150 miles on the bike since, not really enough to know if they're happy or not (I've a nasty feeling the front isn't in quite properly, there's a 'knock' happening on bigger bumps :( )

But - I've had a lot of parts come in this year which I simply haven't been able to do:

New Denali D2 'full-beam' lights to be mounted up and wired in. There's a PIAA wiring loom already in place from previous lights, so I might use that, but also might strip it out and replace it with the loom supplied by Denali. The lights are going to be mounted on the headlight support brackets, so I need to drill out the mounting holes for them.

2nd hand rear mudguard: my 4th Rockster came with a cut-back mudguard, but I prefer to have the OE full-length (with extension) part, so bought one from Holland (or was it Germany?) in about March..... I've not even unwrapped it yet!

I'd like to fit the 'jump-start' bolt to the bike, I THINK I've got the part in my spares-box, but not sure.

Stanton Head Guards: I've been given back my old Stanton Head guards from the mate I gave them to (for his GS), but discovered on facing them up briefly that some of the screw holes on my bike are blocked up - I suspect a previous owner snapped the fixing bolts from previous head-guards in the holes. I hate trying to drill bolts out of holes. :(

So - what have you got waiting to happen?

Wayne,

You got adjustable windshield and bun warmers on your hexhead RT? I took a loaner bike out for ride back then and was impressed.

My RT is an '05 so it's still the oilhead. And yes I really love the electric windshield. Probably my favorite feature. No bun warmer though.

Aha, the 2005 crossover year. I'm obviously an oil head devotee but was impressed by hexhead RT test ride in early 2006... the R1200 R not so much.

Amazing to admit, my 20044 R1150R needs no further modifications. Ideally, it could be lighter and the seat a bit lower but I'm not willing to change the nature of the beast. Also...I'm caught up on maintenance. Did the always joyful wizzy brake fluid change in June. FWIW after 2 years the fluid was clear as new; next time I may wait 3 years. What's left on the to-do-list ? I need to break in my new Roadcrafter one piece suit. It's a retirement present - beats a gold watch.
