Been a while since I posted here ! I just replaced my old Dunlop front tire to match my rear Metzeler Z6. Wow. What a feeling in the curves. The front ends seems to be glued to the road. Makes me think I am riding a new bike. Anybody else got tires that rock ? What brand ?

Diablo Stradas.




(I'm going to have another try of the Conti Road-Attack next time I change both tyres together though).

I was just going to post the same thing. I was running some really squared off Metzler M1s and switched to the Diablo Stradas. OMG OMG, corners that were sketchy before are now feel like I'm taking them too slow. Get a set of these if your searching for tires for this summer.

Yes. I've also just put on new tyres. The old tyres (Z6's) were squared off when I bought the bike last year and I had thought, until now, that the handling was as bad as the old Pre-unit (hinge in the middle) 650 Triumph which I owned a long time ago.

I've gone for the Continental Road Attacks, but I think that most modern rubber would probably be far above MY limits. It's a different bike. Corners are now fun and predictable.

I've just set up Photobucket, so I am now going to try to post a pic of the Rock.

DJ, based on your recommendation... I tried to get the new Michelins for my bike. They are not yet available (the Pilot Road 2) in the USA until September....sigh and drat!!!!

Mark...What a bummer...Can you hold off till then?...It would be worth the wait.

My friend got new tires a week before me and was told the new PR2's would be a long way off..So he got the old ones.

I think they told him that so they could sell old stock...No one will want the old ones once the new ones are avaliable.

That might be the case with you guys also...So they might be there sooner than you think.

Have a pair on now and they're squaring off after only 2000 miles and beginning to look a bit worn.

Also they don't provide anything like as much feedback as Diablo Stradas/MeZ6s. ESPECIALLY in the wet - my confidence on damp roads is just shot.

Can't wait to kill them and get some Stradas back on.

September? At least they told you that the tires are on the way. Nobody could tell me that.

I just received some Shinko Advances today...we'll see whether I get bit by the bargain tires or not Total was $168. I still need to pick up a couple more tools before I attempt replacement however. taosports had a pretty neat rig to do this which I may try and duplicate...

I'm surprised. I find, running at Conti's reccomended pressures which are quite different to BMW handbook (36-42 as oppsed to 32-36), that the Rock feels sure footed and agile. I'm getting reasonable miles too just changed the rear at 7K the fronts still going fine.

yup - running at 36/42. (I always use the tyre manufacturers pressures).

What the hoot are "Shinko"???

Read an article the other day (cycle world?) That said Michelin are recalling there new tire in europe so it willbe a while if ever you will see them in the states. road 2 I think. Put a set of z-6s on last week.New bike!

As I understand it, Yokohama quit making tires for bikes and sold their equipment to Shinko which is a Korean company. Supposedly the 003 race tires are a hit with the sport bike folks. I took a pic although I'm not sure why, lol.

When I purchased my bike it had pretty worn out tyres. So I replaced them with some high performce Dunlops I don't remember the kind off hand. I think they were 1 of 2 options, far as using Dunlop's were concerned.
