For USA it looks like it is going to be a 2015 R1200R and the R1200RS will be a2016 early release in the second quarter of 2015. "R" and "RS" MSRP is posted in the link below.

Like I said classic BMW roadster or Japanies bike.Period.

Just put a deposit down on a 2016 early release R1200RS. Will report back when I've ridden some miles on it. That'll be May or June at best

I'm trying to figure out how to get a new 1200Rwc in the garage, for Nancy of course, to me it's just as much a BMW roadster as much as any before it. Like a "S" model iPhone is better performing and more enjoyable than the last plus worth waiting for, this one will be worth the "upgrade", like it was from the 1150R to the 1200R for me.... I mean us.
More HP, less weight, standard forks, modern looks, no valve adjustments at every oil change.
This one sounds good to me.

So when are the 2015 1200R's hitting the USA?...

ebincia, I'm waiting to sit on one to make a decision. Did you see one at the show to confirm the riding position? I'm looking for more leg room. Also very interested in the new FJ-09. Will wait to see both close up before committing.

I'm waiting to test ride both the RS and new R before I decide, but either way looking forward to upgrade in 2015.

Seating is neutral , but on the sporty side. BMW says they'll be here early second quarter,

Hey Lost - I've had my eye on this one too . . . Put a deposit on one several months ago and it's arrived at the dealer in Countryside in Chicago.

I believe this month (February..) they're due to arrive.

The 2015 "R" is already at some dealerships. The RS will be a 2016 early release in the spring.

Right! I know one has arrived at Countryside in Chicago . . . it's got my name on it!

I believe one has arrived at a BMW dealership in Southern Oregon (Medford).

Looks like they've arrived at the North East's Max BMW dealers.

I talked to my dealer in North East Ohio and he said that he has already sold (2) of them.

I finally saw one in the flesh last week at my dealer.... I want!

Gorgeous bike, I like pretty much everything about them except the huge chrome exhaust.
They had a NineT next to it and if the new 12R was there last March when I bought the NineT there's no doubt I wouldn't have a NineT.
Now I just need to get one for Nancy so "we" can enjoy it.

My local dealer has 2. cordoba blue and thunder gray. I havent made it that way to see them yet.

Yup - and ours in Atlanta (Blue Moon in Norcross) has a white one and a gray one on the floor. Both maxes out in options - so I ordered one with less on it and have to wait until April or May for delivery.

I saw a thunder grey 2015 r1200r yesterday at the dealer. I was surprised by the setup of the radiator, it is a single rather large rectangle right out front in the open. Don't know why but I thought it would be two smaller ones angled and set up similar to the GS. This just looks like a big bug and debris catcher that would be difficult to keep clean. The bike is also much lower than my 2011, too low for me.

The lower I can certainly live with.. I sat on one at the NYC moto-show and could flat-foot it in sneakers. That's a step forward IMHO.

Interesting editorial in the November/December OTL (On-The-Level, owner's magazine from the BMW Riders-Association) - all about the new R1200R - basically taking BMW to task for dropping the Telelever on it. It's a quite strongly worded smack in the chops at BMW. OTL's editors take is the same as mine - loosing the telelever is a step backwards. He actually calls it a "giant step backwards for the sake of garnering the interest of a demographic that wants a certain 'look' more than they want a fork that will not change geometry mid corner, nor in a panic stop, due to the fork compressing?"

In response to a letter to the editor - the editor asked the BMW technical/engineering team why - and the response from Ola Stenegard of Motorrad Design was (1) radiator - the wishbone would be a problem with a radiator (2) give a lower "look" to the front end to attract younger demographic. The exact quote: "Design-wise we needed to get the steering head lower for that compact more 'naked' look".

There was nothing said by BMW about performance. I think point #1 is bogus, clearance could have been solved (it was on the other Telelever bikes.) It's all about capturing the younger demographic. The old-phart bikes (RT and GS) will continue to get Telelever.

Peaa-toooie.... BMW. Glad you made one bike for me - and I still own it and will for the foreseeable future.
