Hi,
As I mentioned previously, my reserve light normally comes on around 116 miles. I changed all the plugs and while
the bike ran a lot better (really much smoother with iridium plugs) it didn't make a damn difference to fuel
consumption. However, I'm just back from a trip to Spain and managed 170 miles before the light came on - two
up with luggage. This dropped to 140 - 150 miles if I did any city riding but because most of the time was spent in
the countryside my mpg was so much better than normal.

The time it didn't come on until 170 I had grown so paranoid that the light had simply stopped working, I was
constantly fretting I was about to be stuck on a Spanish motorway pushing the damn thing in 35 Celcius heat #-o

So, for my bike at least it is clearly town riding that is the issue. I live in London so even getting out to the country
and back always involves enough town riding to really impact my mpg. However, it seems keeping the revs lows
and using top gear as much as possible really helps with mpg.

All the best,

BTW - I know it's kind of obvious (maybe why no-one else has actually mentioned it  ), but the little yellow low fuel light does of course come on a fair bit sooner if the bike is parked on the sidestand. However, given a short while it goes back off once the bike is being ridden (or on the mainstand). I disregard the sidestand induced low fuel light in any of my posts, so I assume that everyone else does as well?

That is low.. I am 280lbs and heavy handed on the throttle and I get 40+ MPG every tank..

Get it looked at..

I'd rather get heat rash than road rash. The end..
