you want photo's of the 12R?
I've been riding the arctic circle and haven't been in here in a minute...
I might have a few...
choose a background... snow, ice, desert, mountains, fields, ocean, dirt, big city, full moon, gravel, mud, action photo's with sparks, naked, loaded for touring, fishing, dual sport, etc.
you tell me what you need, I'm in of course!
NO NO NO NO NO!
Don't let
HIM in. He makes us all look like whimps and wusses. Worse, he's mechanically competent and good looking and people like him. It's
NOT FAIR wah wah wah wah wah ..
Actually, there is NO doubt Joe (Chitown) should have the cover shot. No-one has taken an R1200R where he has, or got better shots. All hail!
That'll do nicely.
...Just been on Joe's website..... and started eating megga humble pie.
Things just got a bit more interesting.

I was going to offer snow, but I immediately realized that I can't compete with Joe snow, so I'll offer my custom milk jug hand guard farkled black w stripe beauty. A farkle section would be most entertaining.

Welcome to the project Doug. Good to build the Canadian contingent.
A farkle section - great idea !

You can send them to photobucket or attach them to a "personal message" on this forum. (I will send you a PM later)
A number of us will be without any means to send pictures the middle of this month what with the two National Rallies coming up.
How do you attach a photo straight from your PC to a personal message?

Rocket ?
What is the deadline... ?
I don't like digital and still use films or instant films Polaroid type.
So ! I can scan, clean & send at the end process but it still take time to produce...

We are aiming for the end of July so you have 3 weeks yet. Some have started sending me photos using the personal message board (ie using photobucket or imageshack or similar) . Others have my e-mail. Which ever is easier for you. Let me know.

You can't attach a photo to a personal message - you have to load your photo into one of the photo-management sites such as Photobucket or Imageshack then copy from there.
Have sent you PM with my e-mail address. You can use this.

Rocket,
I am also a female rider, for whatever that's worth.

Good to hear. Please accept my apologies , I didn't realise.
You've just increased the female contingent by 100%.
Are there anymore out there?

IMPORTANT UPDATE
Have been in touch with Horizons Unlimited regarding producing a calendar using rider's photos and the advice I have been given is to use the USA-based website, Cafepress.com.
This is a website for producing personalised parafinalia - T shirts, mugs, calendars , etc. Use of the software is free but you pay for any product you ask them to produce eg a calendar is approx £11. Not the cheapest, but good quality, I am told.
Have had a quick look at the website and it seems OK.
SO, THIS IS THE PLAN......
1. Obtain your photos (at least 1 good phot of your bike) via this forum ,.... by 31st July remember
2. Select the best photo from each contributor
3. Upload photos into Cafepress (calendar format)
4. Save finish product
5. Circulate electronic version to all contributors (for you to save on your PC) or put on forum (for you to download)
6. I then intend to order a personal "printed version" from Cafepress as a souvenir (you may chose to do the same).
Expect to have more than 12 rider's photos submitted so will probably have to produce a couple of versions of the calendar. Will also consider producing a "specials" section for Group photos, a farkle section, a ladies corner , etc.
Does this sound OK?
Ron

Rocket,
On another motorcycle related form, Pashnit.com, we have a yearly calendar contest where forum members submit their best photos for judging. Members then vote on their favorites, the top 12 make the calendar. CafePress is used to produce the calendars. They do excellent work. The paper stock is thick and glossy and reproduces images beautifully. You all will not be disappointed.
My photo was chosen for the 2009 cover

:
A few suggestions are in order however. Before everyone starts sending you their photos, you need to determine what size calendar you want. This determines the photo's dimensions. Also remind everyone that the photos have to be horizontals and fit within the calendar dimensions listed below. The photos also need be saved at a maximum file size of 7 MB for a jpg or 4 MB for a png file.
Regular Calendar : 11.5 X 9 @ 200 ppi
Oversize Calendar : 17.5 X 11.5 @ 200 ppi
There is a vertical calendar offered but all the images need to be verticals - you can't mix in horizontals.
Good luck with this project! Good to see all the enthusiasm for the calendars!

Good advice, thankyou Michael. This is very much appreciated
Competition would be fun , and maybe we do that in future. The emphasis on this project is "owners bikes" rather than a photo competition. Content will not be so dramatic (although thre are some very attractive backdrops coming through) but everyone is involved rather than just those who are good with a camera. Will re-visit the competition idea if members are up for it.
MESSAGE TO ALL
Regarding photo format for calendar, I propose the we use:
LANDSCAPE FORMAT (WHEN YOU SAVE YOUR PHOTOS)
PHOTO SIZE TO BE 11.5 X 9 @ 200 ppi (SUITABLE FOR REGULAR CALENDAR FORMAT)
PHOTOS NEED TO BE SAVED AT A MAXIMUM FILE SIZE OF 7 MB FOR A JPG OR 4 MB FOR A PNG FILE.
APOLOGIES TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED BUT PLEASE CHECK IF THEY MEET THIS CRITERIA.
FOR INDIVIDUAL QUERIES, USE THE PERSONAL MESSAGE BOARD
Ron
PS Michael, Congratulations on winning the front cover . Fabulous shot.

So, a 2300px by 1800px landscape JPEG will be perfect.
If a person saves at this setting from their computer software (via Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, iPhoto, etc.) and then uploads to a photo share site (photobucket, flickr, picasa etc.) send Rocket the 'max size' link and it should be exactly what he needs.
