I just got my Toyota Tacoma up to a screaming 79 mph before punching it in to overdrive, then slowed to a docile 70 indicated (67 actual).

(I wonder how much more faster than "the ton" I can get this piped & jetted '05 up to?!)

My Speed Triple left Atlanta (by truck I hope) and should be here early next week.
With my luck they're coming by way of New Orleans...

Haven't been able to sleep well these past couple weeks (and I can't blame it on an enlarged prostate).

Fascinating..... the unrest and nervous energy of one's mind a spinning:

Uncertain future at work (picketing & bad press),
replacing bike rides with Martha Stewart'ing around the house,
Scott's early departure and the resulting sobering posts,
an unkempt abode,
the house re-fi',
images of Black American vultures looting & shooting at a major disaster,
yet another inmate suicide at my work place
(bad timing, they probably WILL close us down now......),

and of course the anxious anticipation of the arrival of my BonnieBlack,
TONIGHT!

Looks like Yamaha has an all new FZ-1 up on their website. Engine is now injected, new FZ-6 style cast frame, wierdo (but I likey) side spittin' Ti muffler. Flat, drag bar style handlebar. Very sexy re-do to go with the new BumbleBee 50th anniversary R-1 and a wild *TopDrawer* R-1LE with Ohlin's, Marchesini's, Diablo's, 50th paint. R-6 is all new also.

Sooooooo, you finally got the new bike, 'eh? And you're just chomping at the bit to see what it'll do...And they've just upped the speed limit in Texas to 80...And the HoonMeister has been, um, decorated with a speeding ticket he got on his newest ride...and, well, you can see where this is going. Keep the bailbondsman's number in your wallet. Might come in handy...

Like Pat says, you're gonna love that motor. Unlike 4 cylinder bikes, it has character. Normal driving always plays in the motor's sweet spot. The 3 cylinder growl sound drives dogs nuts and they go into full attack mode. I had a German Shepard sink his teeth into my calf muscle just after I downshifted 3 times to a traffic lite stop. I guess the dogs think it's an aggressive predator sound.
You're also gonna love the eccentric chain adjustment. Rear wheel is always straight and it's a 3 minute job.
The cooling fan runs after the hot motor stops so the batteries have trouble lasting beyond two years.
Other than that, it's a hooligan bike and your Super Motard miles will only make that worse (better?).

Yeah, it's Fast Times in Hoonville!
This thing is a stone blast to ride and after only 114 miles I honestly do not see how it is possible to keep a drivers license if you ride one of these.
Will do the first round of simple mods tomorrow, along with an oil & filter change to get any scarf out of the motor.
Yesterday I was limited to 3500RPM, 60MPH. Today I am up to 5000RPM and 80MPH.
Plan to spend Sunday on it and maybe be up to....??
It is light, smooth, fast, quick, uncomfortable (but not bad), pulls hard as hell and wants to wheelie.
Steering is light & tight and the Michelin Pilots are titz!
Will have a full report and some pics soon.
If I'm not in jail.
