Well, as they say, if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. The Schuberth arrived and it is too small! It has several tags saying it is an XXL, so I guess it is, but I must have a XXXL sized head as far as their sizing is concerned. It fits me like a Shoei RF-1000 XL does (wihch is also too small). I don't think smaller pads would make enough of a difference. So, it's for sale for $199 + shipping to whoever wants it. Check the for sale board.
Wrt webBikeWorld's review, it's a beautifully made helmet. I didn't find it too heavy nor the outside dimensions too big. It has a skirt around the neck opening which must be where a lot of the quiet comes from, plus the bottom of the helmet itself comes down further than any other helmet I've tried on. And I really like the strap closure. To my mind it is at least as good, if not better, than the usual D-ring arrangement.

Re: Shoei X-11 and RF-1000
I am back with the idea of ordering a C3 from UK or from a friend in France or Germany... a guy from extremesupply told me that the best to escape the custom taxes is to ask a friend to buy it and ship it as "Gift" but what is the legal exact regulation about that ? is there a value limit to ship a gift from Europe to US ?
And what about a German friend resident in US ordering for me a C3 from a German website but asking delivery to his American address after the order has been completed on his German credit card linked to a German bank account not a US one.... in this case it is like a German guy shopping in his own country but asking for overseas shipping just because he is located there at this precise moment as he could be anywhere else..I don't see clearly why the US customs service should charge him to pass the frontier.
To avoid taxes I knew some American guys in Europe that ordered stuff like laptops on US websites on there US credit card but with delivery in Europe..
Honestly It's really hard to leave schuberth... I visited extremesupply.com this afternoon and saw the S1 in size M which is basically my size but it did not fit at all...just impossible to slide in.
All the schuberth they had were produced in 2005 and 2006 which is already 3 or 4 yrs old of storage in temperature and condition that no one really know. Then a nice guy there show me the Nolan N103 which do not seem too bad at first impression but reviews online are not that great about it... is anyone on this forum own a Nolan 103 ?
Yesterday I met the Vemar Jiano sale rep while he was doing a Demo at the LA Rev'it dealer... same thing I was a bit disappointed the helmet is full of fancy features with some I even don't like but beside that the whole object feel a bit cheaply made.

According to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, motorcycle helmets are imported duty-free unless they are made in Cuba or North Korea, which is not very likely. So it doesn't seem to be worth a lot of effort to avoid a nonexistent duty.

Geez Neils... Thanks
If Washington wanted to tax each of your hyper-active neurons I am sure the US economy will feel much better.
I asked those peoples about those tax issue and will see what they answer http://www.designerhelmets.com/contact.php
Now the question is : Is a Schuberth C3 can be found in Germany cheaper than in UK ?

Below is the answer of designerhelmets.com
considering custom taxes issues and sizing of the Schuberth C3
Hi Frederic
Obviously local customs are totally out of our control, but I can tell you that we mark everything as a commercial sample and everything seems to go straight through customs and I customers don’t end up paying any import taxes or duty. Obviously I cannot guarantee that that will always be the case, but this is the reason we ship with ParcelForce rather than UPS or FedEx which are a real pain. We tried using those companies and everything did get held up in customs and customers did end up paying duty.
The way we ship seems to work well for our customers and I have no complaints about customers paying duty or taxes in the USA
The price is exactly as you see on our website. We charge in GBP not USD so I can never give you an exact USD amount as this varies constantly with the exchange rate. Our currency converter will give you a pretty accurate idea at the time you place your order.
The C3 is a fraction more generous than the old C1 in terms of sizing, perhaps ½ a size more generous.
Best Regards
