Cool, that's what I needed to hear to seal the deal.... looks like I'll take the easier route and go with the Akrapovic... since it's available from BMW it makes my transaction easier with the insurance co.
Turns out the Akrapovic is about $40 more than a stock can. A no brainer...
The days to being back in the saddle on a new and improved bike are numbered...

With the baffles, slightly deeper than stock. Without the baffles, still quite tame but my low to mid throttle response seems better with the baffles in (at least that's my perception). Not dyno'd but dealer confirmed that the engine likes a little back pressure in the low to mid range.
Also, there are some deals out there (under 800.00) on ebay now and then.

I own a black r12r, love it. If I change the exhaust that does not affect the BMW guarantee? Is it safe for the engine?

It is safe for the engine. The fuel injection easily compensates for the slightly more free flowing exhaust.

If your not worried about exhaust emissions the best mod is to change out the headers. Just changing the muffler does very little to sound or performance. Remus headers for example will move the gases quicker, they appear to be a smoother transition where they connect at the head with a bigger inside diameter. That was my experience anyway, and then a free flowing muffler makes a difference.

Is it ok if I put Remus headers and an akrapovic slip on axhaust? Or the brand should be the same?
