Well, for us old hippies, the New Riders of the Purple Sage are performing at the rally. Thats something to recommend Wyo and definitely better than the last couple years entertainment at the rally. Three years ago George Thorogood put on a good show in Ohio.

The aliens left Devil's Tower intact in Wyo for those desirous of a chance meeting. We all know what it looks like. Bring your pitch pipe.

Wyo can also be a stopover for those on the Top of the Rockies rally run which is about the same time. I think that definitely something will be going on in the Rockies. Expect experienced tire shredders attending.

All I need is time to do all of it !

Also joined MOA during the recent NY Cycleworld show. Also an AMA member. As pointed out earlier in this post, the US government wants us to go away. AMA is our biggest ally, and is addressing one of the issues that I think is most likely to get us all kicked out of the pool: noise. Jeremy McGrath had to fight to run his bikes... on his own property! I have not ready any anti-helmet articles in their magazine in my 3-odd years of membership. Perhaps it's time to reconsider?

As I mentioned in my previous post, I think the MOA and the AMA are good organizations and worth joining for all the reasons already mentioned. However, as I think about the MOA, I realize they are no more than just a social organization. I guess our numbers are too small to have any political and legislative clout. The MOA does hold and sanction rallies, but again this is a social function. They produce a fine magazine (my favorite) and the invaluable anonymous book.

I do wish the MOA was a little more pro-active in dealing with BMW of North America. I could be wrong, but I don't see where any MOA officer regularly meets with BMWNA officials about anything. You would think the largest BMW riders' organization would at least have access to these people. I'm sure BMWNA isn't going to share spline failure rates or change any designs based on MOA input, but it would be nice to know we have their ear from time to time about problems. If only the MOA would say, "We've met with BMWNA, and they have heard our concerns about spline failures, or FD failures, or _______( fill in your gripe), and they will consider our concerns and pass them up to BMW corporate." Individually we have no voice or access to the corporate BMW. I would think our collective voice could and should be at least heard. May not make any difference, but it would be a good PR ploy for both the MOA and BMW of NA.

Getting off my soap box now. Someone can step up on it and flame me. Perhaps I'm wrong and MOA is doing this now. If so, they should be more vocal about it and get some credit for being our advocate.

BMWNA had people at the National in Trenton, Ont and had a meeting for female BMW riders. I stuck my head in the tent. Boy - talk about people being flamed. Those girls read the BMW guys the riot act three times and then they ripped them up one side and down the other. Heavy bikes, high seat heights, clothes cut for men only, the women really let them have it. And they listened, a bunch of F650s and now a F800, low seat heights and a line of womens clothes.

It seems they (BMW) only come to the club when they can use it to save money on a marketing survey.

But like the previous poster said, maybe something goes on behind the scenes that we don't hear about.
