It was about eight days of travel each direction with four days of downtime in the middle. No trip report to post yet, but perhaps I'll manage to get an abbreviated one up on the board soon. But here is a taste of a north central Montana thunderstorm.

I am gonna bump this. There are lots of new members and this was the first, I believe, of many ride reports from gypsyrr.
She was a novice compared to what she became in later rides. It shows what one can do when you have smarts and nerve. And an 1150R.
It was a good one, girl, and you need to do another.

That trip to Arkansas was my first extended motorcycle camping trip. 4 years ago - but the fear and excitement that I felt then just before I took off is still the same with each trip since. Its been a year since my last extended motorcycle camping trip. Time to go again!

Wonderful report! Would like to be able to take an "extended" trip soon, as I look outside at the falling snow. Believe I agree with you about the stopping, talking and writing about those you meet. Have not traveled extensively through the parts you traveled, now I need to go.

That trepidation is normal and I've found that it leaves almost as soon as I pull out the driveway.
Prepare prepare prepare and recognize that the unpredictable will happen and that's what give these trips texture.
and carry a couple of credit cards, just in case

Dr. S you are so right. After about thirty minutes of riding all tension as fled.
