I'm interested in your mirrors. What's the brand and do they work better than stock mirrors?
Hi Rrider,
I wrote a little blurb in this mirror post here:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=17817&start=0

In essence, the mirrors are Rizoma and I love 'em. :D
Does that help?

Guys,
The original collection plus additional photos posted on this thread over the last few days suggests we ought to keep this photo collection going in some way.

In the meantime, please continue to send me copies of the photos to my PM or email. (Also please edit each photo in bottom right corner with name location date eg Rocket, Buckingham Palace London, August 2009. Alternatively, add the details to the PM and I will do it for you). This will add extra interest since the group of contributors is from all over the world plus some riders are real adventurers and it's great to know where these fantastic photos are taken.

Regarding keeping the photo collection going, I have a suggestion...

...my proposal is that we create a "R1200R Gallery" , which could be sorted by year, country and owner. I think we have far too many good photos for just a 12 month calendar. However, using the large collection of photos posted to the Gallery in any given year, we could easily stage an annual photo competition and nominate the best 12 photos from each year to produce the following year's calendar.

Irrespective of any compettion, the Gallery would be a live document and a great place for people to browse.

Your thoughts please...

Ron,

I'd really like to see an on-going gallery of photos on the forum. A competition for an annual calendar is also a good way to keep things interesting. It would be good for camaraderie.

Great idea.

Ron,
An ongoing gallery is an excellent idea. The info you suggest adding to the photos would add interest as well as allow the viewer quick access to "who" "when" and "where". =D> Everyone here enjoys photos of our favorite subject - R12R. Thanks for offering to continue to organize it.

I think an ongoing gallery is a great idea.
Waking up early to find a spot to take photos for the calendar was a nice little adventure and reminded me how much I like exploring with the R.

Also, there are a lot of people on this board who might share some photoshop or photo taking tips in the gallery.

Maybe if the thread is a sticky that will be enough.

I really enjoyed seeing everyone's efforts, some great photographers out there. Now I'd like to see the photographers too! I know Lumpycam's from my neck of the woods, it would be great to put faces to names, as well as the bikes. If you're so inclined of course... just a thought. And a gallery forum is a great idea.

Moderator has ased if a "sticky" in the R1200R forum will do. If only I knew what a sticky was.....

Can someone please educate me on this one.....and will it do for our Gallery idea?

A sticky keeps the thread at the top of the R1200R page.

OK, I 'll kick off the names and faces thing, but need to get a photo with me and the Beema. In the meantime, here's me stood next to a mates 4 wheel toy during an off-roading weekend in Wales last year., but get this...

..having informed said friend (who lives in Belgium) that a couple of us were taking our off-road bikes to mid Wales, he agreed to join us, drove this buggie (which only does 50mph flat out) all the way from Belgium (over 2 days), spent a couple of days off-roading with myself (KTM 400) and another mate (Suzuki 125) , and then drove it all the way home again.

There's friendship for you..

Oh dear, far too much orange.
To balance the uninteresting (and slightly embarrassing) photo of me, this is a typical view of the area we were riding in. If you ever get to Wales, include a tour of the "Brecon Beacons" . As you can see , it's very pretty in summer.

I just became an official, contributing member so I can post a picture and help Doug keep this great forum going. I appreciate his willingness to maintain it for all of us to enjoy.

Some sort of photo will be posted soon. I hope others will follow suit!

Sorry to post that photo twice. I didn't think the first attempt worked.

The campsite, complete with dirty laundry.
Super photo rrider.

a) glad to see you also like orange
b) did you also wash the bike, it looks immaculate
c) love the fact that you also find room in the luggage to carry a dining chair!

...but we've already had the conversation about a girl and her luggage on tour.. ;) :)

Seriously though, great photo composition, and congrats on forum status.
