Thanks for the joke Iowa - that just adds to my happiness of finally getting the part I needed.

"I have your part now, Ms ____. It will be $18.44. That's with tax and shipping. And I'm so sorry it has taken so long to do this."

"No worry, John. I enjoyed my time of waiting. I rarely have that kind of free time anymore. It was a joy. Now - let me pay you so you can get back to your busy job. Will AmEx be fine?"

"WOW, you are more patient about this than I am. I was about to get really upset over here trying to figure this out."

"Really, John? It's just a minor thing. 3 hours on a Saturday is nothing. Let me pay you."

Yeah, right. I've got things to do now. Bye.

It is nice to have the apple store close to my office.

My father in law spend about 20 hours(over 3-4 days) with HP support. He bought a HP computer, and a top of the line HP scanner, and the 2 would not work together. He was extrememly pissed since he has trouble seeing, and uses the scanner with a screen reader.

Enjoy your day.

Still here for a minute while I log this guy's name down and the other 6-7 I talked to.

Iowa - I got it when you had it printed in red. If you want to yell ..... use the font size button and all caps like this

HEY!!! DO YOU WANT TO BUY A DUCK?

or

I'VE JUST LOST THREE HOURS OF MY DAY BECAUSE OF INCOMPETENCE

See? Works better that way.

Now, I'm done and off to run errands.

I have 2 apple stores near my home. They couldn't do it either and I waited there for 30 minutes before the last guy finally gave the definitive answer, "uh....... uh...... I think you need to call this number."

Ha, Gypsy welcome to Corporate America's version of "Customer Service"

Those Support Tech's are just numbers to the higher ups who only care about the wrong numbers, like how many calls did we take today, how long was each call, got to keep calls as short as possible to take more call, etc. And, there's no number for the quality level of support!

Your Tech probably took 15 or more calls while you were waiting like a saint!

I spend on average 1-2 hours a week on the phone w/IBM and Dell, I've learned to tell them what they want to hear, basically lie through my teeth, just to get what I want in a timely manner.

Hijack: (Sorry Gypsy!)

Iowa, if I'd have known you were bored yesterday I would have stopped by for some pizza! Gina's was very busy, won a hat and got a free kickstand puck!

Gypsy - do yourself a favour and ditch those rotten vegetables (fruit actually)(I am referring to Apple Macintosh) in the bin.

They were shamelessly advertising G5 as "the fastest personal computer" ... and then the *Infidels* decided to switch to Intel processors ...

Hypocrites!!!

Can't ditch 'em. I have too much invested in them. It's the punks that one day on the phone who I'd like to ditch. However, in all my years of using Apples, that is the first call I've ever had to make for service - and actually, it was just to buy a part. It could have gone much smoother with less time if the lower rung of people and the 'menu options' knew what part I was talking about.

Gypsy, I'm not an Apple user ('cept for my iPod) but I walked past this place a few months ago, they're on W23rd Street in Chelsea.

http://www.tekserve.com/

Apparently they've been around forever and are well known. They can't be that bad as they sponsor WNYC Public Radio in New York.

Am I suppose to know that band? Is this a generational/age indicator? If so....... I'm too young to know who that is.

But, if they sell a T-shirt that says "Gimme some money"........ I need it.

You might know them better as Spinal Tap.

These go to eleven!
