Hi ranmar850, if it works for you(and others) great stuff!! thats what makes our bikes and ourselves individuals within a group. One of the reasons I chose a Bos Perfomance Exhaust system is 'cos most folk seem to go down the Remus route. Trends are there to be bucked which is possiby why we bought the Rockster in the first place. The screen is just not for me. Cheers.ranmar850 wrote:I have to disagree with you on this particular screen-fervently. I have seen a lot of God-awful ugly screens fitted to bikes, (including Rocksters)but there are a very few that actually improve the bike they are on in all respects, and this is one of them. This isn't one of those" put on a barn door and lets add bar risers at the same time " thing.Old Crockster wrote:why not just buy a tourer? Surely we are changing the essence of a sublime naked bike here? I recently had 1200GT as a loan bike when mine was in for 6000ml service and really didn't like it. Living on the West coast of Scotland, believe me there is PLENTY of wind and I kinda missed it behind a screen.....maybe its just me?If you feel you have to go down that route, then you have bought the wrong bike. Generally speaking I hate screens, too, but this really accentuates the lines of the bike. Properly adjusted ( for me), the angle exactly extends the line of the cowling , without touching at the lower edge, and that lower edge is moulded to exactly match the profile of the instruments. You really have to see it in the flesh, look at it from all angles. This is NOT something you have to accept for the sake of wind protection, it's a winner all round. I rode 320 km this morning, return trip into a headwind, and wasn't bothered once, at good average speeds.
mine is adjusted to exactly match the angle of the eyebrow-in normal riding position, w/standard bars, I am looking very slightly at the underside of the screen ( I am 5'11 for the metrically challenged) This directs air, apparently , towards the top half of my helmet. There is wind noise, probaly the same as without the screen, and no turbulence. There is NO wind pressure on the chest, and hence no pull on the arms. With a fresh headwind, 120 km/hr is not uncomfortable-with no wind 130-140 is all-day comfortable, and, with a slight tailwind, 150km/hr is supremely comfortable. And this all holds true with a pillion, as well. Wthout the screen, for comparison, I found 110 Km'hr OK, but a headwind made a sustained 120, for me, rather uncomfortable.drevil wrote:it looks ok, i am torn between this and the parabellum. the bmw screen is just plain ugly. can some wunderlich users comment on the wind protection?
Hi Mike, haven't had any Dyno testing on the bike and to be honest I probably wont. However it definately felt smoother and dare I say quicker immediately. My only real complaint about the stock Rockster was the sound, or lack of it to be precise but not now! Its more "aggressive" sounding than the Remus and gives the bike the attitude the looks suggest. The can looks a lot less fussy than the Remus also because of the less austentacious Logo and more cabon on show. Sits very well beside Illmberger Carbon hugger.Anonymous wrote:Old Crockster, what can you tell me about your experience with the Bos exhaust? It looks great and at the moment I'm torn between it and a carbon Remus. Any comments would be appreciated.
Mike.
