After 3 years on stock seat upgraded to Touratech high version. (made by Kahedo). So far happy with it.

Had the standard for 15,000 miles. Now I'm using the Comfort low. So far, so good.

Sargent low conversion at the moment. Probably have 35,000 miles on it - and it has grown more comfortable with miles.

I also have the low stock seat, and the "low" (standard height) comfort seat. The low stock seat started getting more comfortable after 3-5,000 miles. I haven't really given the comfort seat a chance yet - it has about 10 miles on it, and it's sitting on a shelf in the garage. I really should give it a chance, but the short distance I did try it in - it appeared to allow less movement in the seat then the Sargent (or stock seats), and I like to move around on the seat a bit when riding.

I also have several Freedom Air cushions - the cruiser model and the sport-bike model. The cruiser model worked well with the low stock seat, the sport bike one fits better on the Sargent for some reason. I have pretty much stopped using them as the seats started to conform more to my butt - haven't felt the need for them. The Freedom Air got a very good rating on MCN's review this month. I also have the taxi-driver beads - which seemed to convert 4 big points of pain into 1,000 points of pain. Not a success for me.

Stock seat. I start disliking it around 200 miles into a ride.

I'm a fan of Sargent seats - I had one on my Honda VFR and loved it. But I can't find any reference to a Sargent for the 2011 R1200R on any of the UK supplier websites. Could somebody please post a part number or link?

I kind of liked the stocker on my '07 but I didn't really give it a chance because my wife didn't care for it. So I bought the Corbin and while I found it to be an improvement she didn't. To make her happy I bought an Electra Glide with the heated sundowner seat

I didn't care for the fit and finish of the Corbin so I sold it to one of the guys on this board. I had Rich's build one up for me and it's absolutly fantastic, for me. He built it up 1 1/2" over the height of the stock seat and widened it also. I don't think it would be a good fit for someone of "average" height/inseam. I'm 6'4" with a 35" inseam and it fits me perfectly. The seating space went from old school naked bike tight (not sportbike cramped) to dirt bike spacious. Spendy, but nice.

The reason for that lack is probably because the Sargent seat for the R12R is built on your pan.. you send it to them and a few weeks later you get back the new seat and the old foam and cover that they removed. They guarantee satisfaction - at a price ($40 to put your old cover/foam back on..) Probably not that practical to do that with overseas shipping..

xprof wrote:Perhaps your survey is a little incomplete. You do know that there's Rick Meyer and Bill (or Rocky) Meyer, quite different saddles made by estranged brothers. Ricks's have more seams, while Rocky's are quite minimalist, with only one seam. Mine is a Bill Meyer saddle, custom-made in Ojai, and I'm quite happy with it. The saddle on my previous bike was a Corbin, which I had for 15 happy years.
I also have a BMS Custom Seat.I went with the Premium Vinyl and it is as soft and supple as any leather product I have ever owned.Extremely comfortable and at a very fair price to boot =D>

Rick Mayer. Poor workmanship from the outset, and not aging gracefully. Comfortable enough, and of course I can't see the foam coming out of place under the vinyl when I'm sitting on it. I'll put up with it until I can't stand it anymore, then toss it. Anything is preferable to having to deal with Rick again.

Look elsewhere.

Cheers, Tom

SDMAX wrote:On Rick Meyer for now; had factory std low bf; then next was Low Comfort. I think the current Rick Meyer may be where I wind up. Put 300 miles on Rick Meyer last weekend and it felt right. My have low comfort for sale soon.
Is the low comfort the same height as the stock standard? If so, I might be interested in buying it from you.

Stock seat. I hated it for 6000 miles, but I guess it got broken in some. I can now go without stopping between fill-ups (~225 miles), whereas before 100 miles was a stretch.

The poll shows that nobody has this seat, yet.

Is anybody tempted to try it? For about twice as much you can get a Russell Day Long, which I have been pondering. I hate the way the Russel uglifies the bike, though. Now that I have the cylinder guard bars on, however, it's already pretty ugly (my opinion only, and only applies to my bike, not yours :)

I am, but not sure if this is any improvement over the Corban I am thinking of purchasing.

That Wunderlich seat looks great! I guess I should give the stock seat a chance first though......... Unless I happen to stray into a stockist during my imminent holiday in Germany
