This link was posted once previously, so thanks to the original poster, Geezerbike. It's definitely a link worth saving. Scroll down the left side until you find the seats.

I bought a Corbin saddle for my 07 R1200R last year from the BMW Marketplace. It was essentially new because it raised the seat height too much for the seller. It fit well, looks good, and is very comfortable. I sat in it on a 5,500 mile trip last summer averaging 700 mi per day and never had a butt problem. Never sat in a BMW comfort seat, but the Corbin is much more comfortable than the stock seat. Drawbacks are weight, it's much heavier that the stock seat, and, if vertically challenged, height.

sooooo what is it that makes the comfort saddle more comfortable??? Padding material? Cover material? shape? and WHY don't the put the GOOD seat on the bike to begin with ?!?!?! I'm sure if you buy a BMW auto they don't ask you if you would like to buy a seat that doesn't hurt your a$$ after 100 miles. That really burns my but!

Ain't that the truth! They should offer the comfort/touring seat as standard and have the current seat as the optional S and M saddle. They could probably drum up some business by offering it with whips and chains.

It does not come standard obviously for cost reasons. It would definitely increase the cost of the bike. But is should be an option, with an upgrade cost of the difference between the two. Not replacement cost.

Also, since it is sold as the "comfort saddle", they really should be accurate and label the stock seat as the "uncomfort saddle".

Has anyone got their seat yet?

Actually, my 2000 BMW 540i was offered with two optional seats. A thickly padded "Premium Comfort" seat, and a thinly padded Recarro style sport seat. Mine came with the latter and I assumed I would be on a quest for the "Comfort" model. But low and behold, those sport seats work great for all day trips... up to about 14 hours once.

My 2010 R1200 R came with the comfort seat as part of the touring package. So far I've only ridden about 8 hours on it. It works great.

Maybe I'm just a hard ass.

Just got my "low" comfort seat today after exchanging it for the high one. After a 10min ride its definitely more comfortable than stock. Whether it's as comfortable than the Mayer remains to be seen but the "under the thigh thing" is gone. I also feel like a little less pressure on my arms compared to the high comfort or my Mayer saddle. 5'11" with 31" inseam for reference.
I finally got got an RT!

My Low (800mm) comfort seat showed up today as well. Same feedback as Daveyator - it feels easier on the arms and my butt is definitely happier. I went for a 1 hour ride today and didn't have to stop and stretch like I did just two days ago on the same ride with the stock seat. The seat is wider in the pan and has a much more defined 'butt pocket'.

I'll post pics this weekend after I wash the bike. Right now the Weissrakete isn't looking so hot since I've singlehandedly reduced the flying insect population north of San Antonio by at least 30% over the last week.

Take the picture anyway! I like to see a well used machine (you should see mine!)

Great. Sounds like the Comfort Saddle is a winner. Now the question is, do I mail order from Chigago BMW, or support my local dealer? Price difference is like $100.

That would be a good question to ask your local dealer. Give him a chance to say no, then you can go somewhere else.

Does anyone know what the $184 difference is? I don't have any problem paying a premium to be comfortable, but I need to know if there is anything more to this saddle than a different height.

Leather instead of vinyl, and better shape and foam. Reports here are it is much better.

I guess I will find out.

I know we've beat the part number thing to death but: 52537721957 is the "low" comfort seat (pictured) which is 800mm or 31.4". 52537721958 is the "high" comfort seat which is 830mm or 32.7". Mine was $554 including shipping from Gateway BMW St Louis.

I have the low version and must say I really like it, it's a lot better than the standard saddle.

Comfort saddle looks good. I'm 6-1 with a 32-inch inseam on the regular seat and have been contemplating moving up to the tall seat. Tempting . . .

I recently replaced my stock seat with a standard comfort seat. Very pleased at the comfort, fit and quality

You're in Torrance right? Corbin is your local dealer. This is a great time of year to run up SR25 to Hollister. You will get a custom fit, tour of the factory, probably free breakfast, probably share lies with several other ride-ins, and they ship your stock saddle home. Great experience. Alternatively, consider Saddlemen in Long Beach. I've seen some good work that they have done too.

Thanks for the input, but Hollister in not really local. I want the BMW seat, and I was debating rather to mail order, or see my local BMW dealer, which I am leaning towards.

Thanks
