 go read the fuel strip threads on the R1200R forum - I think with this system you are better off as you depend on the ODO and have a specifi sensor for low fuel and idiot light

The most confusing was my KTM640Adventure which had a low fuel light and a petcock. Coming off the oil head R - the low fuel light comes on and it almost immediatly sputters and dies. After pushing back to the service station 1/2 mile I realize that the petcock has a reserve  function

I've had other bikes with decent fuel gauges, but having had a car once with a fuel gauge which would go down to empty and then move back up a little to the top of the red, perhaps I should have said "an accurate fuel gauge". I have only run out of fuel a few times in almost 35 years of driving all were in that car. If you weren't watching the gauge closely and missed the first dip to empty you'd think you were OK at the top of the red until it started to sputter.

A fuel warning light and a reserve position on the petcock is actually a good idea IMO, I always seem to run out and need to select reserve at the most inconvenient times, like turning across 4 lanes of traffic. Bit of a bugger the first time when you didn't know, but not something you'll ever do twice :)
